Dropbox Family Plan needs to support extended version history

Dropbox Family Plan needs to support extended version history

I have the Plus plan with extended version history.  Want to add my family by changing over to the Family plan, but I've learned that extended version history is not supported with the Family plan.  This is a complication that makes shifting to the family plan a bit problematic.

This is precisely the question I want an answer to, too. On the FAQs it says that you cannot *join* a Family Plan if you have Extended Version History, so I assume that means you cannot switch to Family Plan either/you have to lose the add-on. It's not entirely clear.

Without Extended Version History, I guess I'm going to have to look at a separate Plus plan (or Google One Drive maybe).

Below are the "official" rules I got from the Dropbox rep.  Funny thing is, I've removed EVH from my Plus account and I still get an error when I try to convert from Plus to Family.  I'm getting a bit exhausted.

There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to join a Dropbox Family. As you mentioned, the extended version history add-on is one of them. I'm happy to remove this to allow you to join a Dropbox Family plan, however I want you to be aware that you will be unable to have this feature again should you want to revert to your old subscription. If you are still happy for me to proceed, please let me know.

  1. You can’t be a member of more than one Family plan. If you are already a member of a Dropbox Family plan you will be unable to join another Family.
  2. Family plan does not support the EVH add-on, if you have purchased this add-on you will be unable to join a Family.
  3. You will be unable to join a Family if you are signed into a Dropbox Business account. Only personal accounts (Dropbox Basic, Plus or Professional) can join a Family.
  4. If your current plan has any scheduled downgrades you will be unable to join a Family. To resolve this you can go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/plan to cancel your scheduled downgrade, then join the Family. Upon joining the Family you will be given a pro-rated refund for your previous subscription.
  5. If you have a Dropbox subscription from the app store on your mobile device. You will need to cancel your existing subscription from your mobile device and wait for your account to downgrade, before you can join a Dropbox Family.

Thanks. I think this pretty much answers my question. I see that I could run two accounts but I'd need to use a different user login on the computer for each one.

For me, at least, this kills the whole idea of a Family account TBH. I need Dropbox for work-related things and the Extended Version History has been useful a few times.

So I guess it means getting a 2nd Plus account or using something else for the rest of the family.

Don't understand why extended history wouldn't be available for Family Plans. I upgraded to the Family Plan so now I can't buy an extended history add-on? That doesn't really make sense.
