PLEASE make 'Recents' a standard tab in the Gmail app

The old gmail plugin showed a Recents tab. It went away, it came back. Now this plugin is being retired. I'd love to see this Recents tab in the Dropbox for Gmail -- it's too many clicks to dig into my folder system every time I want to attach a file. 

I recognize that this is do-able via the desktop app, but I miss that it's right in my Compose window, and that it shows the graphic representation of the file, and not a long dropbox URL that connects to my shared file. 

When I export a PDF to share a design and collect markup, it's the last thing that I do before emailing a dropbox link to the client. That PDF shows up in my recents so it's only a click away. This was a part of my workflow that I use easily 20 times a day, so I'd love to have that back.
