I changed my mind about backing up a USB drive ...

Hey DropBox Community;

Newbie query and I would really appreciate an answer. I plugged a USB drive into my computer, but declined the polite DropBox suggestion of having it automatically back up, each time the drive is attached.

Now, there's data etc that I want backed up and would like for this to happen automatically when the drive is plugged in. DropBox doesn't recognise the drive in the DropBox Backup dropdown menu?

Is there a setting or a way I can add the drive to my backups? to achieve automatic backup bliss? 😃

Many thanks in advance,

Graeme

Hi @Graeme501, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Do you see any files related to Dropbox on the external drive in the root folder?

Could you try unplugging and replugging the device, wait for it to be detected by the machine, and then open the Dropbox Backup settings?

Keep me updated with any progress!

Hey Jay,

Thanks for your reply. Yes; I have tried disconnecting and remounting the drive. Even rebooting my computer and reconnecting the drive ... No joy 😞

I know Dropbox Backup is in beta; how about the ability to select a drive from the menu? That would be a great fix.

Cheers,

Graeme

 ... no Dropbox related files on the drive either 😃

Thanks for the info, as the backup feature isn't detecting the drive correctly, I'd recommend contacting the support team for them to investigate this in more detail.
