Dropbox Backup
39 TopicsI'm trying to restore my backup on a new device, but nothing happens.
Device Macbook Pro M2 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS 26.0 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) v233.4.4938 Question or Issue I used dropbox backup to backup the Documents and Desktop folders of my Mac before it went in for repair and I now want to restore the backup to my machine (which has a totally fresh macOS install). I am able to start the restoration in the dropbox app, which creates a new backup but does not seem to actually download the backed up folders - even though I can see them in the backup file in my online account. I've tried changing the folder permissions etc but it doesn't seem to make a difference, the download doesn't happen.102Views0likes8CommentsWhy can't I restore my Dropbox Backup?
Why can I not restore my backup on to my computer? I have to download individual folders and in some cases it will cry and complain and say it cannot download because a folder may have too many files. Is there no better way or am I stuck downloading folder by folder. I like the feature but if the restoration process is like this, then wow. Its tough. I hope someone has some insight on how to proceed.80Views0likes7CommentsHow to view Backup folder on DropBox app?
Greetings community! Previously, I used to be able to see my Mac represented on my Dropbox as a folder (I had enabled the backup option). This was super convenient because I could easily access my files on-the-go using my Dropbox iPhone app. However, due to a computer issue, I needed to wipe my MacBook Pro clean and reinstall everything (including Dropbox). I enabled backup for my MacBook. However, now, it doesn't show me the MacBook folder like it used to. So I can't access my files on the go. It shows me that I have backed up my files and I am able to see them through a web browser. However, the folder representing my MacBook (backup) has stopped showing on Dropbox. Is this due to some update in how backups work now for Dropbox on Mac? How do I get the backup folder to start showing up on Dropbox again. Thanks!8KViews1like26CommentsNo auto backup with Dropbox Backup for three days, why?
Hi I've got auto backup set to every 15 minutes but Dropbox hasn't backed up since 3 March. When I hover over the Dropbox icon in the notification area, it is stuck on "Indexing dbxignore (1 sec)". I'm running Windows 10 on my Laptop, Dropbox app version 219.4.4463. Things I've tried: Quitting the app. Pressing alt + H and selecting fix hardlinks and fix permissions in preferences>accounts Uninstalling / re-installing the app. What do I need to do to get back to having regular backups? Cheers.138Views0likes5CommentsLocalwp Dropbox backup connection failed: 500 Server Error
I have been trying to establish backup options for Local from WP Engine with Dropbox. Each time it is unsuccessful (500 Server Error), even though it clearly states all permissions granted when checked under Third Party Apps in Dropbox settings.85Views0likes3CommentsHow can I use Dropbox Backup to backup a folder located on my machine?
The Dropbox Backup overview says: "Dropbox Backup lets you back up any file or folder on your computer or device to the cloud. ". But the PC backup only allows specific folders to be selected. How to I backup the folder "c:\ImportantFolder"? What am I missing? Thanks.Solved3KViews0likes13CommentsIs it possible to backup an entire drive, like my OS drive?
Hey guys, Been using Dropbox from day 2. I looked at the dropbox back up system, it looks like its more "desktop" "documents" folder kinda thing. I was interested in if there was a process for say: Cloning my OS drive and backup to dropbox (doesnt have to be a backup file can just be regular dropbox file if you get my meaning. I am toying with instead of just using dropbox for my work drive but to have a back up of say the OS and and maybe another drive just to have them cloned and ready to go if ever I needed it. Obviously DB doesn't have the TB for backing up everything so happy with just my OS Drive and one more. Is there way to automate this other than just saving the cloned file to dropbox folder? Are there any Integrations that do this? Thanks for time!Solved646Views0likes1CommentHow can I backup our entire Enterprise Dropbox account?
We are planning to use Dropbox for our enterprise storage and file solution. We expect to have about 100TB of data across the world. For regulatory purposes and because the cloud is not a backup (at least from our view) wen want to have a backup of all the files. We need to be able go have backups for certain files 10 years back. We are using Veeam for all other backups. How do other companies handle this issue? I am thinking of two sulutions: Have a VM with dropbox sync and then backup the VM Use a Synology NAS with CloudSync as a backup Any other, better ideas?1.2KViews1like2Comments
