Why can't I restore my Dropbox Backup?
Why can I not restore my backup on to my computer? I have to download individual folders and in some cases it will cry and complain and say it cannot download because a folder may have too many files. Is there no better way or am I stuck downloading folder by folder. I like the feature but if the restoration process is like this, then wow. Its tough.
I hope someone has some insight on how to proceed.

Hi kal_varrik, thanks for contacting us!
When attempting to restore a Dropbox Backup, are you restoring them onto a new computer, or to an existing machine?
Do you get the option for the steps in this article when restoring the backup?
Keep me updated with any progress!

Jay, well I have a mac and i decided it needed a fresh OS reinstall so the computer is essentially blank. When I installed the dropbox application I got the option to sync files in dropbox already but there was no option to restore my dropbox backup.

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link to see if you get the option for restoring from a backup?

Jay Well I tried that and unfortunately I did not get that option for restoring from backup.

Hey kal_varrik, apologies for the delay here.
Was this a backup of an external drive or an internal one (Desktop, Downloads, Documents folders)?

Hannah, the backup was of my internal hard drive, just over half a tb of backed up items. I tried to download from the website but that is become untenable because I have project files whilst not big in terms of size they have many many files inside sub folders so it is not realistic to try individually download those folders and even when I try I run into the "too many zipped folders error".

I see, thanks for the update, kal_varrik.
I've just sent you an email, so we can investigate this issue a bit further.
Just get back to me when you have a chance!
