Data loss: Boxcryptor classic files no longer readable
Integration Affected Boxcryptor classic 1.7.1 Device irrelevant Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 237.4.5655 Question or Issue Dropbox decided to update to windows files recently. This Update without warning did a) block my PC for at least a day b) ended up corrupting my encrypted files which I no longer can read. Please advise how to restore my files. This is likely the same issue as here, Dropbox's latest update leads to no access to Boxcryptor files. Can't copy or open them. | The Dropbox Community but the solution described there is to rely on old undynched folders which I do not have. Also, the topic is closed and does not let me continue. Text files end up with error message "cannot open .." Pdf will lead to "No file Permission ..." Excel: etc..
Why can't I restore my Dropbox Backup?
Why can I not restore my backup on to my computer? I have to download individual folders and in some cases it will cry and complain and say it cannot download because a folder may have too many files. Is there no better way or am I stuck downloading folder by folder. I like the feature but if the restoration process is like this, then wow. Its tough. I hope someone has some insight on how to proceed.
Can I change per-file permissions when using SSH certificates?
Until now, I've been syncing my SSH certificates in Dropbox. However, since a couple months ago, everytime I open the app I see this message: If I click "Give permission", this will grant read access to my certificate files, and the next time I try connecting to SSH using that certificate I will get an error and will have to manually remove the permission. If I click Cancel, I will get again this same message the next time I open Dropbox. My feature idea is having a more specific message that let users know which files have permission issues, with a way to just reject the permission changes and adjust the selective sync accordingly. The current way is a bit too uninformative and probably breaks systems for many others.
