Re: Incorrect dropbox space usage on windows
I have Dropbox Basic plan of 7.4GB, 5GB I earned from refer a friend.
Dropbox has been stating for a while that I am out of space, yet I believe I was only using less than 25% of my limit. So, today I emptied my DropBox folders, leaving only one shared folder of 113.7MB. There are no other shares, no backups and no deleted files, yet it's showing:
Your personal Dropbox account is full, Using 18.3 GB of 7.38 GB
Standard files (18.2 GB)
Shared files (113.7 MB)
Backup info:
Backups Size: 0 bytes
Number of files: 0
Any help would be greatly apricated.

Hi Hat1, welcome to our Community!
You mentioned that you deleted the majority of your content, and you've already checked your Backups in regards to your storage space.
Can you try to access and delete any folders within the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC ?
Let me know of the results!

Thank you for your response. You're absolutely correct, I can now see where all my used data is - you've solved it for me 🙂
Checking https://www.dropbox.com/backup/all shows no files or data but using your link (https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC) I can see numerous folders & files.
Thank you.

Hello
I use a dropbox basic account. At one point, even though I had a volume of files of only 1.8 Gb, I was notified that the account was full. I deleted the files I didn't need, but no space is freed up.
I deleted all the files, but then no space was freed.
Practically, although I have not uploaded anything, the account looks 90% full.
I disconnected all the devices, I deleted the cache memory, but it does not update.

Hi cristian1974, how are you today?
I merged your post under this thread, since the OP had expressed the same inquiry, and I want to keep everything at the same place.
Feel free to have a look at what I suggested above, and let me know if this worked out for you.
Thank you!

Hi cristian1974, did you have any other computers attempting to backup to the site? There could be other backup names for different devices such as https://www.dropbox.com/backups/Mac or https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC (1) depending on the number. Do either of these links help?

I have a Basic 2GB plan. But my account says that I have used 77GB. How can I have so much more than my plan limit? As I loaded up files, wouldn't Dropbox have stopped me and required me to upgrade right then and there?
Is it possible that years ago I had a paid plan, loaded up more files, and then allowed my subscription to lapse?
And of these files totaling 77GB, I can only see files that total 42MB. Even if Dropbox has denied me access to any storage exceeding 2GB, then shouldn't I be able to see all the files up to my 2GB limit?

Hi Spike Mullin
Have you looked to see if you have accidentally set up BackUps? www.dropbox.com/backups ?

I have the same problem. My dropbox file limit was 8.8G and it says that I used 96.2G (93.3G regular files and 2.9G shared files). But I checked all my regular files, it should not exceed 5G. Anyone knows what is the problem? I did not use dropbox backup.

I have a problem with the storage for regular files in my dropbox. It shows that I have 93.3GB regular files (I cannot see where are the extra files), but I only have less than 5 GB regular files. I did not use dropbox backup. Anyone knows how to solve it? I expect this has something to do with my earlier try of the dropbox plus plan (valid for half month). Thanks.

Hi @Megan, I also tried using this link and I did find a folder to delete - however I can't see a delete button? When I look up how to delete folders from dropbox it says to do it on my computer via file explorer, but I don't know how to access this area via my computer. Do you (or anyone) know I can delete this?
Screenshot below of what I see:

Mika2, if you’ve checked all the previous suggestions, we can open a ticket for you too, and look into this.
Please let me know if you have direct access to the email address that’s linked to your forum profile here and we can get things started.
ElectricWhelk, it looks like computer backup was enabled at some point on your Dropbox account. Have you already followed these steps to disable it and return your files back to their original location on your device?

Hi, I have now had an issue for the past month or so - I have a 2GB account. Somehow, it's gone way over. There are two Zip files on there taking up a total of 1.01GB. There is a reported 18GB of used space, but cannot see where. There are no shared files with the account. I've deleted the files from Windows, and they are not on the Web version. I have even deleted them from the 'deleted files' section. Can anyone advise?
