Is it possible to disable file previews?

Is it possible to disable file previews?

How can I disable the file preview of Excel files (.xlsx) ?

Application: a website link to dropbox (Jimdo doesn't allow .xlsx file downloads).

Users see the preview of the Excel file and get confused trying to use the file online (which doesn't work with a read-only permission).

Objective: users should directly download the file without another click somewhere.

There is no way to do that I'm afraid.

BUT you can sort of trick the system to force a download of files by altering the URL slightly.

This preview issue has been a problem for our company as well. We send audio and video files and clients get confused and only use the preview instead of downloading. They then call us saying the video cuts off after X amount of time or whatnot. Wish Dropbox would change the interface to make the download feature more prevalent instead of a small little button in the corner of the screen while the preview is huge, taking up almost the whole screen. Bad design, please fix.

Change the link so that it forces a download, as @Mark linked to above. It's highly unlikely that Dropbox will change the Preview page.
