25 TopicsI can't edit Excel spreadsheets on my Dropbox mobile app (Android 13).
For the last 3-4 months I have not been able to edit, delete or add Dropbox entries (an Excel spreadsheet) on my Android phone app (Version 13). The app always asks me to sign into Microsoft. When I do I end up in Excel, not Dropbox, with not the Dropbox file. I am signed into my Dropbox account. I can see/read the spreadsheet. When I select the edit button I get sent to Microsoft Office. Ever since I started using Dropbox on my phone (many, many years) I have always been able to update my passwords on the Excel Dropbox spreadsheet. I can edit on my computer and the data will sync with my phone app. I used to be able to access the edit function on my phone, which would then sync to the Dropbox on my PC. Does anyone have any suggestions, as to what I am doing wrong? Thank you, in advance.88Views0likes2CommentsI have edit access on an Excel file but I can't save my changes through the Dropbox Android app
Device Motorola g54 5g Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Android 15 Question or Issue I can open an excel file with sheets that has been shared with editing access. I can open to edit and can make changes. When I try to save these I get to options. To device or Google's cloud. Doing neither option seems to save the changes in the administrator's copy. What have I done wrong?Solved89Views0likes5CommentsRenaming files on the Android app adds a "-1" to the filename and removes their extension.
Device Lenovo Tab P12 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Android 15 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 440.2.4 When I try to rename a file, I see a second line which adds "-1" to my new file, doesn't matter what I do, I cannot get rid of it. Not only it does not make sense, but it has corrupted so many of my files as very often it rewrites also the extension, so when trying to rename documnet.pdf, it will rename it either document-1.pdf or even worse to document-1 NO EXTENSION. Then I have to download the file to my tablet, open it via my local file explorer, add ".pdf" extension and then I can use it. Today I upload a WORKING pdf file to dropbox, and without renaming it, it removed the extension, so I was unable to send it via email or whatsapp to other people, I couldn't do anything with it, and the worst thing is that I cannot do such an easy job as rewriting the FULL name of the file whatsoever as this app for a very strange reason doesn't allow rewriting the extensions for me I know I am not the only one, because recently a pdf file was shared in a group chat of my colleagues and nobody was able to open it after downloading it (whole thing was outside dropbox), when I donwloaded it it was called "file.-1" , I asked the person if she uses dropbox and she confirmed, but she didn't know that your program can corrupt our files.Solved273Views0likes11CommentsMoving files: default destination should be current folder, not root!
Imagine I want to move files nested 10 levels under root. I navigate down, I select them, I press Move. Now the android app is showing me the root folder, why? 99% of the time I want to move files somewhere near their original location. With your design I once again have to drill down 10 levels under root to find the destination for my files. Such a bad UX, fix it.74Views0likes1Comment"Move (file)" should start in the current folder, not at root level in the mobile app on Android
I'm not sure if this is just the case with Android. But unfortunately, it has always been that way since I can remember. For moving 1 file "quickly" to a freshly created sub folder, a user needs to navigate the whole folder structure to get there...62Views0likes1CommentSorting of folder contents in the Dropbox mobile app on Android
I'm using Dropbox on my Android Samsung S22 Ultra. When I enter different folders there are different ways of sorting some in the upper right some halfway down to the left. I need to know how to have every folder display the newest content without taking any action every time I enter the folder. I broke up a dog fight between a 250 lb Leonberger and 125 lb Pitbull who were about to attack some children last year and suffered very serious spine and rotator cuff problems. The medicine I'm on Lyrica makes my short-term memory zero and thus the need to have everything sorted in every folder by the newest addition without having to change the sort method or take any other action. I have a file that is listed as modified 2 weeks ago, but I modified it on a Windows computer and the update was listed there as completed. But on the Android device, it is listed as modified 2 weeks ago. I pulled down from the top of the Dropbox page and got a refresh spinner, but the file is still listed as modified 2 weeks ago. Developers, please do the right thing and give us an Update button or the equivalent functionality for Android. I wanted to use my dropbox account to be able to backup my files and remove them after a period of time from my phone, so files say older than a couple of months are only available online. And just keep the most recent ones in my android phone. It would be nice also to do this for different folders.150Views0likes3CommentsRead-only file, only on Dropbox for Android (!)
One file, docx., in a Dropbox directory - and only that file - appears as "only-read file" when I open it in Dropbox app for Android. Instead I can modify it without problems when I use the app on Windows 10 PC. I have copied the file from Dropbox to my PC, deleted it on Dropbox and uploaded it again: nothing changed. I reinstalled Dropbox on my Android tablet, no way. Others similar files in the game directory of Dropbox work perfectly. Can you help me, please? Thanks.Solved4.7KViews0likes22Comments
