Error when automatically backing up files to Dropbox through third party app on Android
Hello, I’m experiencing an issue that appears to be a recent change in Dropbox behavior. I use a third-party application on my Android phone that backs up data to Dropbox. The app automatically connects using Dropbox integration, selects the Apps folder, and creates its own subfolder inside it where backups are stored. This setup has been working reliably for years. Recently, I started getting the error: "Exception in 2/sharing/ validate_folder_path: (".tag":"bad_pat h","bad_path":"contains_app_folder")" I have already tried: Disconnecting and reconnecting Dropbox Letting the app create a new folder inside Apps Recreating the Apps folder None of these steps resolved the issue. Nothing has changed in my setup or workflow, and this started happening suddenly. Could you please confirm whether there has been a recent change related to sharing or access validation for folders inside the Apps folder, and whether this behavior is intended? Offline archives on micro SD external card on Android device
Good morning, I recently bought an Android e-ink reader, and the internal storage is only 64GB, which isn't very much. It has a microSD card slot (up to 1TB), and I'd like offline files to be downloaded to the card, as the device has quite limited storage capacity and I'll be using large PDF files with audio. Any ideas on how to do this? Thank you very much.
Legacy Dropbox Android App breaks on Android 4.4/6.0.1 (Vertu Aster/BB Priv)

My primary concern involves the sudden loss of functionality in older versions of the Dropbox Android app on legacy hardware. On my Vertu Aster phone (running Android 4.4.2 KitKat), the official Dropbox app version 190.2.2 (released in 2020, the last build officially supporting Android 4.x) worked reliably for years until very recently (around 26 January 2026). Now it no longer connects: Network error. Retry later" This happened abruptly without any app update on my end. Similarly, on another device (BB Priv), version 314.2.4 (from February 2023) stopped working the same way "until today" after functioning perfectly for years. In contrast, an even older setup, my trusty iPhone 4S on iOS 6 with a legacy Dropbox app version—continues to connect and access files without issues. I understand that Dropbox enforces modern security standards, such as the API server root certificate update effective January 2026, which likely affects outdated clients. However, devices like the Vertu Aster are premium, non-disposable hardware built for longevity (handcrafted luxury materials, no planned obsolescence), and Android 4.4 was its final official OS (no updates available from the manufacturer). Many users with similar vintage or niche devices are affected, and there are forum reports of comparable issues on older iOS versions as well. My questions/requests are: Is there any possibility of a temporary workaround, exception, or legacy endpoint access for very old clients to restore basic functionality (e.g., file viewing/sync on Android 4.4.2)? Could you confirm if the recent certificate/API changes are the root cause, and whether third-party apps like Dropsync (Autosync for Dropbox, version 6.5.1 or similar) are still fully compatible with the current backend? (I plan to test Dropsync as an alternative for autosync on the Vertu.) If legacy support is permanently ended, is there any recommendation for accessing files on such old Android devices beyond the web interface (dropbox.com in browser), which works but lacks automatic/background sync? I value Dropbox's service and have no intention of switching providers, but maintaining access on my existing hardware is important to me. Files are waiting to be uploaded on Android but never do
Question or Issue I typically send files from my Android phone to my Windows PC using Dropbox, sending them to the Sent folder. I do this by using the Share feature on file manager app. Today, it’s not working. Dropbox says “Uploading to Dropbox . . . 3 files will upload in the background,” but it never uploads. When I open the Sent folder in Dropbox, I see the files, the names greyed out, with each one saying “Waiting to Upload.” I tried clearing the cache in the Dropbox app, restarting my phone, and trying again with fewer files (3, instead of 7), but the same thing happens. I checked the system status on Dropbox’s website, and it shows no current issues. Web searches on the topic list lots of possibilities, but are no help in determining which one is my issue (most of them, I can tell, are definitely not). Anyone know what’s going on, or how I can debug this?Dropbox keeps loading/spinning on my Phillips Android TV.

I have an open ticket #25949579. After logging back in, which is successful, I try to Allow access to the app but then the spinner spins indefinitely. I've tried it with multiple apps on Android TV same result. I've tried multiple Dropbox accounts, same results. This is happening on multiple TVs at the same time.
