24 TopicsI tried deleting the Dropbox app, but it also started deleting my Dropbox files.
Hello. I cannot seem to figure out what is happening. I was trying to upload/download/move files yesterday and it was going extremely slow. A pop-up informed me that "if things were uploading slowly, install the app on your computer to upload faster." So I did that and now it is EATING UP all my storage on my computer to the point where I cannot open or save anything. I tried deleting it, but then it appeared to be deleting everything in my account so I panicked and cancelled the deletion. Please help.90Views0likes2CommentsAllow signers to cancel all pending signature requests (even the ones generated by a template link).
Dear DropBox, I tried to cancel/decline three documents that are pending my signature because I do not want to sign them and I do not want to contact the signer. When I contacted your help team and sent screenshots, they told me that the senders cancelled their accounts and that I cannot decline the documents because they were initiated via a template link. Would you please add the functionality so that users can always cancel pending signature requests, no matter how the user sent them (including documents initiated via a template link)? I included the message from customer support below. Kind regards, Vasco You don't have the ability to decline because it was initiated via a template link. For template link requests the option to decline the request is unfortunately not available to the recipient. This is expected behaviour, as template link requests are designed differently from standard or bulk send requests. Because of this setup, only the sender has the ability to cancel the request—they control the workflow since the document is generated directly from a link rather than being individually addressed. Our documentation for decline options is only for non template link requests. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this email.111Views0likes3CommentsDropbox has created a folder called 'Mac'. Is it safe to delete it?
On my iMac, Dropbox has created a folder called 'Mac'. This folder is not listed in the app. on the iMac, the folder always has the blue sync in progress icon. Is it ok to simply drag this 'Mac' folder to the trash and delete it?229Views0likes13CommentsCan't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.281Views0likes7CommentsThere are two Dropbox folders on my computer and both seem to be syncing to Dropbox.
The old Dropbox main folder (D:\Dropbox (Westcoast) remains as a junction since the change of Dropbox main folder naming some years back. New files are saved correctly in the new folder system but appears also in the old folder together with all other old files. But when I try to delete a file in the old junction folder it's also deleted in the correct main folder. How can I safely remove the junction such new files are not appearing and ultimately delete the old junction folder hierarchy without destroying files and folders in the correct main folder.136Views0likes5CommentsI'm asked if I want to move files out of Dropbox, and then my Windows desktop fills up with them
Message #2 after hitting cancel for message #1 Desktop view after message #1 Message #1I have had this issues for a few months now. I will be working on a spread sheet or reading emails when I get a message (see pictures) Remove "05-19-24 Azi & Stone 2.jpg and 40 other items from your Dropbox account and all devices? (file name and number not always the same) and without clicking on anything in Dropbox or on the dialog box, I have a full screen of files on my desktop. Some of these files are from my files in Dropbox and some are files that I have moved to trash. How can I stop this from happening? Each time it does, I have to go through each file and move them back to the folder they belong in.958Views0likes4CommentsHow to delete old Dropbox Update Logs
Every so often Dropbox updates itself, which is good, mostly. It also makes a log of its updates, which is good, mostly. Unfortunately, I now have 1,994 old update logs on my C: drive, dating back to 24-07-2020, and every time I use a malware scanner every one of these logs is summoned to give evidence, which is not good, all the time. I am able to trim the rubbish on other software collections, but Dropbox insists that only the owner can delete its logs, and won't tell me which entity is the owner. FWIW, I've used Dropbox far longer than 4 years, and I was able to delete all logs dated prior to 24-07-2020 with no noticeable untoward catastrophes happening. I would like to not only save time on the malware scans, but also put the 82.5 megabytes to better use. Maybe we only need the last 5 logs as a fall-back measure? So, who is the "owner"? And, would taking ownership of 1,900 old logs injure the Dropbox install?Solved1.9KViews0likes7CommentsUninstalling the desktop app from my computer
Hello community. Thank you in advance for your help. So I downloaded Dropbox on my Windows laptop and on the same day I started having trouble with the effectiveness of my laptop. I made a general review and saw that my laptop's storage was full, and when I reviewed the storage detail I realized it was the Dropbox folder that apparently downloaded all the data. I uninstalled the Dropbox app but the folder is still on my computer occupying memory. Can you help me know how to uninstall and delete the Dropbox folder from my computer without damaging any files inside the cloud?Solved769Views0likes1CommentDowngraded Dropbox to basic and accidentally deleted entire Dropbox folder from my D Drive
I thought it was a full backup, not the actual folder. I see all the files (580GB) on Dropbox online. Can I download the whole lot in one go? Are they safe or will Dropbox delete them forever? I now have no access to live chat...2.1KViews1like18Comments
