I have two Dropbox accounts. Both have the System Extension disabled. However, when syncing on a desktop (Windows in this case), on one account, the Dropbox folder has the reparse attribute, as well as all files. I cannot remove this and should only be set if using the online-only feature. I want all files locally synced. I am syncing all folders and have nearly 1 TB of space left. (No folders are shared, files are taking up space) Now I noticed when I try to set the sync state to offline only, it always goes back to online only, no matter how many times I've set it. The reason this is a problem is I also use Backblaze, which cannot back up these files and folders. This behavior occurs on any machine I sync this account with. I can't remove the reparse attribute either-Windows just tells me access to the cloud file is denied. My other account does not have this problem. All folders and files in this account are offline only and the reparse attribute is not set. I have a ticket open with Dropbox, but honestly, I'm not expecting much from there. Does anyone have a similar experience?Solved427Views0likes7CommentsIssues with Dropbox File Provider on the Mac
I am writing this both on behalf of myself (personal pro account), but also a company I am director (business account). But moreover, as member of a large ongoing discussion with a number of other professionals who, like myself work in the music industry who are experiencing huge issues with the new file provider version of dropbox. Many of whom are already leaving dropbox I appreciate that it is Apple that have enforced the new API. However, the new version is not fit for purpose for the following reasons: 1> Not being able to keep dropbox on an external drive is an essential for people like myself who have large projects that they need to share with other collaborators, but need ready access to. It is simply not realistic or possible to try and have all this data on the main SSD. In my case I have a Mac mini with 256GB SSD as a server for my assistants and I, connected to a much larger drive array. 2>uploads/downlaods are broken with the new fileprovider. I've been waiting 2 days for files to upload that should have taken 2 hours. Files randomly appear suddenly switch to online only, some files never upload and some never download. The basic function of dropbox is not working 3>Dropbox is deleting files randomly. This is the most worying of all. A number of files have either been deleted (and I've had to recover from deleted files and time machine) OR in the case of logic projects, the .logicx files are dissapearing randomly My main computer is a Mac Studio M2, running Ventura but we are also experiencing the same issues on M1 Mac Studios on monteray and Mac mini M1 on monteray Can dropbox tell us that there is a pathway in place to resolve this, or should we just cancel our subscriptions nowSolved6.2KViews4likes25CommentsDropbox vs. Ventura nightmare (191.4.4995)
Welp, week two and the "new" Dropbox update continues to reek havoc on my iMac. I've read a lot of community threads, and can already weed out that this is not a "beta" version. I've installed DB version 191.4.4995, on Ventura 13.6.1, and now I've updated to Ventura 13.6.4. After countless system restarts, the Dropbox icon in the top menu bar is constantly grayed out while the Sync History tab says "Starting." Hours go by and nothing happens. Meanwhile, I can not access any files in my Finder that are from DB folders. Please tell me there's a fix for this. I went a long round with support last week, and they instructed me to do a Terminal command process to look for "Symlinks" (which I said I would not do because it did not make sense with what I was experiencing), and then out of nowhere, all of a sudden, DB just started working. That lasted for the afternoon but the next day on restart it was back to the beginning again. This has kept my iMac's fan constantly spinning up and CPU usage spiking. "fileproviderd" has constantly been over 100% of CPU usage. And "rtcreportingd" has sometimes jumped way up, other times been around 17% of CPU usage.Solved5.1KViews0likes27CommentsMy Windows syncing status shows "updating 2 files" for weeks.
Have Dropbox app on Desktop (windows). It has been showing sync for weeks. When I click on the tray icon it says "updating 2 files" I have no idea what the 2 files are. Since that started I have several folders with the blue sync icon that are not syncing. I turned off firewall, rebooted, shutdown dropbox and restarted with same issues. What happened?Solved1.7KViews1like3CommentsDropbox is extremely slow across devices.
Every few weeks, my Dropbox becomes extremely slow and unresponsive. This happens across all of my devices simultaneously. I just checked the upload speed and it is around 12 kb/s. My internet speed is very fast at around 40mb/s. It says "1 hour" but it will actually take several days to sync. Why does this keep happening?686Views0likes1CommentLinux App for ARM Processors (Fedora)
I would love to be able to use Dropbox on my Fedora Linux computer, however, it is running on an ARM processor. Right now, Dropbox only supports x86_x64 processors. I know this is probably a very small population of users, but I cannot be the only one with this unique need.2KViews4likes4CommentsBi-directional syncing between External HD and Dropbox
Hi folks, I'm trying to create a system for myself where I have a two-way sync between my storage on Dropbox and my main external hard-drive, connected to my home desktop. I also use two laptop computers for work (teaching) and for performance (music), and these activities overlap a lot. I use Dropbox to good effect across all machines, but I have not been good about backing everything up online and my other backups are split across various devices without good filing. Basically I'd like to organise my filing with the external drive as a hub (4TB), with everything backed up on Dropbox as a mirror but not necessarily be present on the SSD on the desktop (to keep free space where possible). I imagine this will require 3rd party service. One issue I'm anticipating is that a 3rd party solution might run into problems where the external drive is not online and Dropbox might mistakenly think files were deleted. Hoping to get some insight and advice from users here.Solved971Views0likes3CommentsDesktop App for Mac not working, stuck in "sync," can't access recent files
My Dropbox desktop app (for Mac) hasn't worked since a recent update - I've tried reinstalling Dropbox and no dice.
