On Windows 7, my account is the administrator account, yet I could only install dropbox by running the install file 'as administrator' (right-click > Run as Administrator). I received a warning when doing this saying that Dropbox may not work properly but I was forced to ignore it because there was no other way for me to install. When I tried installing normally the install process would just disappear instantly with no error message or explanation. Nothing happened! So now I have it installed and my 'live' folder is not sync'ing to the files on my dropbox account. I suspect this is the problem I was warned about when I had to install 'as Administrator'. Is that likely to be the case? And how in the hell can I install Dropbox normally? I've searched the web and am very surprised not to find a solution to this out there. Surely it can't just be me who's come across this issue.Solved8.9KViews0likes11CommentsSetting up Smart Sync - not working
Hello all, I'm trying to setup smart sync on a windows 7 64 bit desktop. The problem I'm getting is right after it's done installing I get this box that flashes on the screen "Windows requires a digitally signed driver" . Then I click on the dropbox icon and it says Smart Sync is experiencing an issue... , and then dropbox proceeds to start downloading every file. Things I've tried, I disabled the anti virus, I've ran the intall program as as admin, I've set the computer to online only, I went into GPedit and regedit and told the system to ignore the driver signing. I'm at a loss. Please help, thank youSolved8.6KViews0likes5CommentsUnable to share folder since it contains a shared folder
Hello, I have created a folder with documents and folders that are labelled as: "Only You" for members. It will not allow me to share this folder though because it says "This folder can only be shared as a link because it contains a shared folder". I don't see any files inside this folder that are shared though. I moved a lot of information into this folder and unshared some people from documents to make all ONLY YOU. Does this take awhile to update before I can share with others? Not sure why its showing as I only have access but not allowing sharing... Please let me know how to resolve. I hope I'm doing this correctly as I am new to this but - have I misunderstood something? The reason I'm paying the $75.00 a month is for unlimited storage for my partners and I to have space to store the gigantic wav libraries we tend to accumulate producing various music projects. Did all of us misread something or is the Dropbox unlimited storage similar to your phone carrier's unlimited data. If that is the case I think $75.00 is an astronomical amount of money to be paying for only 3TB. That's highway robbery! Apple costs less per TB. We initially read seperatley then together all the info provided and came to the conclusion that unlimited storage means unlimited storage. I remember reading about 3TB but we would be given more as needed. If there is a part of the guide I misread or the help section or something that anyone knows about it would mean the world. Thank You.Solved6.7KViews0likes6CommentsPreventing folders from being moved
Hello fellow Dropbox users.. I am the team admin on a business account. We have implemented a folder structure across our team. Includes folders and sub-folders. We would now like to "lock" our new folder struture, while still allowing team members to accessall folders and sub-folders. We need team members to be able to upload, download, edit and save files within the folders and sub-folders. Is this possible? Our main goal is to prevent team members from accidiently moving or dragging folders or sub-folders into the wrong place. Do any fellow team admins have any tips for business accounts?Solved6.4KViews12likes6Comments
