I'm sharing photos and videos, as well as production documents with clients and love to get their feedback on the specific file. However, many companies prohibit employees from generating their own Dropbox account, which is needed to comment on the files. How about just having to "sign up" with their Name and Email in order to get notifications? Would love to have an easier way to share files with clients and get their feedback as simple as possible.95Views1like1CommentOption to automatically lock a file.
We constantly have issues with conflicted copies! Yes - even though there is the badge that shows up, and even though file locking is an option if done manually. I've done research and MANY other systems support this feature. I've been a long-time Dropbox user, but am looking aggressively at changing due to this issue. It shouldn't have to be a manual process to prevent someone else from opening the same file I am currently working on and saving a conflicted copy. Who would remember to do a manual file lock each and every time they open a document?!159Views2likes3CommentsSearch and sort through images with facial recognition
Iâm in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyoneâs photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.2.1KViews25likes12CommentsPDF Bookmarks access
It would be so very helpful to be able to access pdf bookmarks. Our Board of Directors often has a large packet of materials and we use DropBox to store the file for viewing. We prefer DropBox because we can create a link that is not downloadable. However, navigating 1,000 pages is challenging, and bookmarks are so much friendlier and easier than hyperlinks to pages/sections. Especially because I haven't quite figured out the easiest way to add a "back to top" to all pages, in the blink of an eye. I have a very limited time to create my board packet, adding docs at the last minute, or replacing pages even after sent to the board. Bookmarks just work BETTER. Thank you for listening. The new Dropbox sync info window (v224.4.4811, 2025) is too vague, especially for large folders (e.g., my 350GB folder). It shows â74 files remainingâ but doesnât list which files or whatâs happening (e.g., redownloading, indexing). Older versions had better sync details. Please add these features to the sync info window: Clickable Files: Allow clicking on files in the sync window to open them directly in their location. Show Waiting Folders/Files: Display a clear list of folders and files waiting to sync, including their paths and sizes, to identify bottlenecks. Giving clear marking of files that are yet to sync or not. Detailed Sync Info: Provide specific details (e.g., file name, progress percentage, status like âdownloadingâ or âverifyingâ) for each file/folder in the sync queue, similar to pre-2020 versions. Also any permission errors. These changes would make sync tracking transparent and user-friendly, especially for large datasets. Thanks for considering! Currently I feel this is amazing that it is not standard. The last option is for having a simple way to have mutliple folders for mutliple windows users. Currently it is almost impossilbe to use the same drop box folder for two users.110Views0likes2CommentsOne Click Backup Restore
Hello! I was under the impression that I could restore my whole backup with one click when switching to a new MacBook. It turns out, after many bugs (such as only synching one folder, and not giving me options for the others), it is not possible. I also tried downloading the folders individually - and I am met with the error " Attempted to zip too many files" particularly when trying to download and restore my Lightroom Catalog folder. I am going to revert to using offline backup via Time Machine and thankfully I still have access to my old laptop, but I am a bit disappointed to see how tricky Dropbox Backup turns out to be. Hope this helps develop solutions and a better system for the future77Views2likes1CommentCan we have a folder/list of links to our Dropbox files on Android?
It would be quite useful to be able to compile a folder or a document with a list of links to Dropbox files that are made available locally. Imagine a speech that needs a set of texts or images to be opened in sequence. Or a performance in which it is necessary to compile a list of scores that need to be accessed quickly without browsing. The interest in just links, and not copies, is to access the latest versions adjourned in Dropbox from any of the connected devices. This is clearly possible in Windows where a folder or a .docx document can be compiled with links to Dropbox files made available locally. In Android unfortunately this is not possible. Someone suggests to make copies of the files into the local space (not Dropbox) and link to that. But this would not allow the great feature of dynamic update on Dropbox files. I have tried on my tablet to compile a file with links, but when I browse to get the link to a Dropbox file, I go nowhere. I have enquired the Dropbox assistance team and they told me that this feature is not available in Android. I think that this would be a great addition. If anyone in the community has a suggestion I would much appreciate it. Best to all. PS: In serching for a solution someone suggests to insert a path like this to locally available cash: Andoid/data/com.dropbox.android/files/USERHASH/scratch/folder/file.tx but I do not have the USERHASH and the path may be wrong.178Views1like2Comments
