Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to transfer files from one dropbox to another online, without syncing it to the local PC. I don't have the space to do it locally. So is there any way it can be done online? Files size is total of: 400 GB Thanks!Solved11KViews0likes7CommentsSearching for files returns no results
Greetings. For years, my Dropbox folder was on my 1 TB 😧 drive and I could search for content on the 😧 drive right from Windows Explorer. Somehow, one of my settings must have changed because I can see content within Dropbox, but can't search for it. For example, in one of my image folders, I can see two dozen photos that include "camp" in the title. But, if I use Windows Explorer to search the photos folder directly, or even Dropbox as a whole, for "camp", it says no files are found. I suspect it has something to do with the new space-saver feature and how files were imported into my new laptop in December. Almost 500 GB of space has been freed up on the 😧 drive of my new computer compared to the old. Can some kind soul help me figure out what's not working with the Selective Sync feature? Right now, the entire image folder is checked in Selective Sync. The settings show that folder alone is 604 GB in size. Yet, my entire Dropbox folder is taking up only 451 GB of space on the laptop, which includes dozens of other folders. If I log into Dropbox and search for files online, all the images show up. It just doesn't work when I am searching on my laptop where the images are supposed to be stored for instant access. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks!Solved8.5KViews0likes9CommentsHow can I use the password, in order to access a password-protected file?

Hello all, Just today I was using DB as normal, and attempted to find a folder for a particular job. We use a a number system to identify folders like "20-240" where 20 is the year, and 240 is the 240th job worked on. I was surprised though that when I used the search function to try and find 20-240, it showed as having no results. I manually went into my co-workers dropbox folder, and sure enough it was there, just that the search returned no results. (It did find other years in the search such as 09-240). I mentioned it to my co-worker and he searched as well and it also came up with zero results on his end. He said that just this morning, he was searching for something else and had trouble finding it as well. I attempted a few other random numbers and discovered that 20-239 was also not showing in the search results. I searched the community thread, and found a similar problem from (I think 2015) where someone recommended trying a different browser (I am using Chrome, and also tried Firefox) with the same negative results. We are a group of about 3 people using mac's (I'm on an older imac, but my co-worker is using a fairly new system with all the lateste system updates). Can anyone advise? This has the potential to be a HUGE problem if the search is not working 100%. Thanks Note: I usually use the web-based dropbox, but I also searched using my desktop app and it also did not find the folder. I'm currently using v96.4.172 of the desktop app in my menu bar. I'm running an older system software of 10.11.6 - but as mentioned, my co-worker is using an updated current OSx. Oh and I did a search for the specific filename inside of that 20-240 folder, and it DID find that in the search results.4.7KViews0likes6CommentsHow to recover access to a shared folder deleted by the other user?
I have losted a extremely important folder which includes all of my book keeping & accounting info. When I notified my accountant we'd like to switch our accounting service to another accountant, he had then deleted that folder immediately with out our authroisation. He set up the folder, then shared with us. We have the right to view and edit the folder, and everything in the folder is our accounting information. Hope someone can advise and help us!4.5KViews0likes5CommentsHow does Dropbox OCR work?
New to Dropbox ... I understand that Dropbox can perform OCR on my pdf (and other) files? Do I need to do something to make this happen? My workflow involves scanning paper directly to my Dropbox folder; which then syncs to my NAS (the NAS has Dropbox integration in its OS.) Or, scan and save to the NAS, which then syncs to Dropbox. In either of these scenarios (preferably both), will Dropbox automatically perform OCR so that the document is searchable on both the NAS and in the Dropbox cloud? If so, how do I make that happen?Solved4.4KViews2likes1CommentCan I scan to OCR and search receipts with a personal account in Dropbox?
For reasons I won't waste time discussing, I have not been happy with Shoeboxed or Google Drive for storing receipts. I have a Dropbox account that I don't use for much and I wonder if it would suit my needs: I'd like to scan receipts, using my phone camera, and be able to search for Store names and amounts listed on the receipts. I have read that Dropbox will do the OCR, at least if you scan the original from their mobile app (I already have lots of receipts in pdf but it appears that Dropbox will not OCR those). But I've just run several tests and it does not seem to work. By that, I mean that I get no search results when I search for an amount, e.g. 6.50 or "6.50" or a store name. Can anyone confirm that I can scan to an OCR'd pdf and, if so, what might I be doing wrong? Thanks, this is actually a pretty big deal for me, as I have been trying for years to get a really reliable e-filing system for receipts.Solved4.4KViews0likes2Comments
