How do I stop files being deleted due to inactivity?
Mark i was gonna ask about the comment u made 2 years ago saying that the content and files in dropbox gets deleted after 12 months of inactivity, how do i stop that? what constitutes inactivity? because i got a warning that my files may be deleted as it exceeded
Files won't save
Twice in the last 7 weeks I've been completely unable to save a document. I've tried renaming it, and it won't rename-- it just stays as the original name. No error message. The system "blinks" and reverts back to the original name each time I go to "save as" and try to update the file name. The side box pops up each time: "Meet the dropbox badge" as if I've opened a new file. The document continues to say it was last updated 3 months ago when I just did 30 minutes of work on it this morning and tried to save it repeatedly. I can save my Word doc as a pdf-- that's the only saving I can do. But, that means I can't open it up and continue to work on it later this afternoon. I primarily use the desktop app. However, the file is not saving online, either. It is not the same file that had this same problem in early March, making me worry that I could lose work on any file at any time. There was no warning that something was wrong with the file when I started working on it. I'm afraid to close the document now for fear of losing my work. What can I do?? This is a Windows 11 computer. No other issues have occurred with it. Last time, Dropbox said this happened because the system had a recent update. However, that is not the case this time!
Questions about Dropbox vs OneDrive
I have a Microsoft Surface, windows 11, iphone and ipad. I've had Dropbox for many, many years since the first computer person set it up. I still have it and am paying for it. My new computer person has set me up for everything to go into OneDrive. Are they backing up the same information? What happens to the data in Dropbox if I cancel it? Will it all be in OneDrive? Turned on a really old computer and all my files went back to older versions
Short Version: Is there a way to just bulk undo the most recent sync of my Dropbox folder? Long Version: I don't use file syncing with Dropbox these days, preferring to manually upload specific files and folders as-needed for collaboration. I don't even have the desktop apps installed anymore. This past week I was cleaning up some clutter and found an old Mac mini, unused for at least five years. I plugged it in and turned it on to make sure it was in a condition suitable for recycling and the very old version of Dropbox that was installed immediately started syncing all of my files from 5+ years ago. So now my Dropbox folder is a mess and my quota is blown. Is there any way to undo this aside from manually sorting through my Dropbox folder? Thanks.
Unable to open available offline file on my Android.
Hi. I'm using the Android version of the Dropbox app. (ver. 450.2.2) I set the text file to "Available offline" and edit it offline. In certain circumstances, offline files cannot be opened. 1. Connect your Android device to the Internet and sync files. 2. Edit the text file marked "Available offline", save it, and synchronize it with the server. 3. Disconnect your Android device from the internet. 4. Tap the file you just synced. 5. I can't open a file and get the error message "Network error. Retry later." If you open a synced text file while your device is online, you can then open the text file even if your device is offline. If you sync a text file and then go offline without opening it online, you will not be able to open the text file. Please fix this behavior.
Support insists they can't recover my files, but I worked on them a few months ago.
I have repeatedly contacted support regarding missing photos and files I’ve lots of photos including wedding photos missing . They say they were deleted a year ago and not retrievable this is not true as I looked and started to organise them in July this year. I’ve repeatedly asked for this to be escalated to a manager they just ignore my messages . This has been going on since September. I can’t find a phone number or anything to complain . I’ve never known anything so frustrating. I’m fuming where do I go from here . I want my files !! Anyone else had same issues ?

Happening: However, I never received an email confirmation. Two days before the end of the trial, I received an email asking me to provide my billing information. However, I canceled the trial. How can I be sure my trial has been canceled without being billed for it after the trial period? Furthermore, all my old photos uploaded from approximately 2010 to 2020 have disappeared, even though I have a paid account on an old Dropbox account. How do I get these photos back? I only use three devices and currently use less than 1 GB of data. I now have a dropbox Basic account. Expect to happen: 1. Export folder of scattered files on Android to access from a third party app
Hello, I'm on Android, trying to access files from a third party app. I can't seem to find the files on the local device even when I have them marked as offline accessible. I see there's a way to export an individual file, but the large number of files I'm trying to have access to are spread through a bunch of folders and I need to keep the folder structure intact, so it's not feasible to manually download each file. Is there a way to get my Dropbox files into a folder that I can access with a third party app somehow? This seems like a pretty basic use case so I'm frustrated I can't seem to find a way to do it.My local files won't open. I can see them in the Dropbox folder, but can't preview them.
Unable to access my files on DropBox! Have had a DB account shared between a work laptop + my personal laptop (both Win 11 + fairly new) for quite some time. Recently retired-Work laptop went away. Can't seem to access much of anything on my personal laptop now. When I go to click on pictures or documents, I get the following: Hmmm… can't reach this page It looks like the webpage at file:///C:/Users/pgand/Downloads/Dropbox/Documents/MetLifeCritIllPol.pdf might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_FAILED I really hope I haven't lost everything I ever copied here. I attached a SNIP from File Explorer-they all LOOK PERFECT yet I can't ACCESS ANYTHING. Please help if you can thanks !
