Hello Community. I have been asked to use/add files to another organisation's Dropbox and they have sent me a link inviting me to edit their folder. However, the link from Dropbox suggests that I need to 'Add to Dropbox' - that is, adding that organisation's whole folder to MY Dropbox. That company's Dropbox is going to be HUGE and I obviously don't want to add their whole company Dropbox to my own private Dropbox. Is there a way they should be inviting me to EDIT or ADD to their Dropbox that doesn't mean their whole Dropbox needs to be added to MY Dropbox? Many thanks in advance, lane_RHLSolved10KViews1like10CommentsI see duplicate Dropbox folders on Windows, after reinstalling the desktop app, and they both sync
Hi there I had a problem where I noticed one day about a month or so ago that my backup of my current computer had disappeared so couldnt access any files from my computer on my phone. The only way I could see to fix it was to reinstall dropbox on my computer which it fix the backup problem. However I now have a problem on my computer where my windows explorer shows two indentical dropbox folders. How do I remove of them without losing any files? Anything I do to one of the folders affects the other, they both have the same files and both sync. Thanks in advance.Solved8.9KViews1like29CommentsMoving the Dropbox folder
In the desktop app, it was simple to move the Dropbox folder to a different location (using Preferences). Now that it seems the desktop app is discontinued, I can't find any way to move the Dropbox folder at all. Is it possible? If so, how?! Thank you!Solved6.1KViews1like9CommentsGreen checkmarks are missing from my files in the Dropbox folder on macOS 12.5.1
Even though my Dropbox folders and files are synchronizing properly, I no longer see the green checkmarks on my Mac with Monterey Version 12.5.1. I have shut down and restarted my Mac and uninstalled and installed the Dropbox app, but still no green checkmarks. Would someone please help me resolve this issue so I can be assured my Dropbox folders and files are synchronizing properly?Solved6.1KViews0likes13CommentsmacOS Monterey 12.0.1 - "Dropbox Folder Missing"
The other day, I rebooted my Mac and Dropbox greeted me with the following notification: "Dropbox Folder Missing. Your Dropbox folder has been moved or deleted from its original location. Dropbox will not work properly until you move it back. It used to be located at: /Volumes/Data/DB/Dropbox To move it back, click "Quit" below, move the Dropbox folder back to its original location, and launch Dropbox again. This computer was previously linked to xxx@xxx.com's account. If you'd like to link to an account again to download and restore your Dropbox from the web version, click "Relink". I checked to make sure the folder in question was still there -- and it is. So I quit and tried again. Same notification. So I figured it was some kind of weird glitch, relinked the account to a new Dropbox folder, downloaded files and went on with my day. Fast forward to today. I rebooted my Mac again, and when it started it, the same Dropbox notification appeared. The folder is still there. The files are still there. But Dropbox is not connecting. I'm not enthusiastic about the idea of downloading a few hundred gigs of data *again*... So what's going on with Dropbox? It's worked flawlessly so many years I've forgotten how long. Is this happening for anybody else, and what solution(s) did you find? Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.4.3KViews0likes14Commentsaccessing online-only files from macos terminal
I have a large, shared dropbox folder that is set to "online-only", but I want to make specific files available offline. I know I can do this via right clicks in the Finder window for individual files, but I need to do this for many files. How can I do this via the macOS terminal? I'm using macOS 12.6, and dropbox v166.4.29203.9KViews3likes13CommentsHow to Sync (the same file) between the Dropbox App and the Desktop?
I wish to place on my desktop screen a copy or a "duplicate" file of an Excel file that exists within my Dropbox Folder and be able to edit it from there, as opposed to edit it within the Dropbox App. This will save me a lot of mouse clicks by opening and editing that Excel file with only one click from my desktop, whereas if I must go to my Dropbox folder, I must click on the File Manager (or open it from the taskbar link), click to open the folder, click to open the subfolder and finally click on the file! If I just "Copy-Paste" the Excel file from my Dropbox App to my Desktop screen, no changes that are made on the desktop file will be reflected within Dropbox... Can someone suggest me a way of solving that question, please? - Thank you.Solved3KViews0likes4CommentsCan I link my old Dropbox folder again to my account after moving to a new device?
I am a DropBox Pro user since many years. Lightning destroyed my W7 PC where I had a partition 😧 with a folder named DropBox. The folder was replicated and syncronized with the DropBox cloud. Now I have a W10 PC without any partitions, only C:. My whole local DropBox folder content survived and is available here. I have installed DropBox but how do I now go about to synchronize files and folders between the cloud and the PC?Solved2.3KViews0likes19CommentsWhy do I have a duplicate Dropbox folder?
I had to reset my Dropbox password recently and for some reason upon signing in again on my Mac it seems to have duplicated my Dropbox folder. I wasn't aware of this at first but it seems I've been saving some files in what seems to be the unlinked folder and some in the linked one. I have no idea how or why this happened and there was no period of copying or downloading that I noticed. The old one seems to be in ~Library/CloudStorage along with the new one. The new active on of course has the Dropbox logo beside it. 'Get Info' doesn't give me the folder size of the old one but the size of the CloudStorage folder is under double the new Dropbox folder. This is slightly suspicious. Obviously my concern is losing documents and now figuring out a way of picking out files that are only updated in the old offline folder. This could take hours. Is there a neat way of merging both folders with priority set to keep all new updated files? Thanks2.2KViews0likes11Comments
