I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved110KViews0likes24CommentsCannot Change Excel online date format

Hello, I am using Dropbox (v206.5) on my iPad (up to date with IOS 14.01) and for most word documents I am able to open them from Dropbox app and edit them in word with no problem. Periodically, when I open them, the document will open in word, but I am unable to make changes to the document (can't even type or change text). I have checked to make sure that the documents are not "read only" and I when I try to open the documents on another device (my iMac), I am able to open and modify the documents with no problem. I have also check to make sure that the documents are not open on any other device. I have also tried to uninstall and re-install both the Microsoft word app and the Dropbox app on my iPad. Any other ideas on what may be going on? thanks in advance.21KViews0likes27CommentsWhy do I need a license to edit Word and Excel files now?
So this just happened today. I can't create new Word or Excel files, nor can I edit existing ones. There is now a paywall that says I need a commercial Office 365 version. Um what? Working for an org that has a number of remote colleagues, we rely on being able to share and collaborate on our in-progress work. Having to pay for an essential embedded program on top of a subscription, without any warning, is not cool.20KViews3likes93Commentscan't save files from Office365-app to Dropbox - supposedly write protected
Hello there! Starting yesterday all of a sudden I can't save files to my Dropbox via the Office 365-app anymore. I get a message telling me that the file is write protected, which it isn't. It tells me to save a copy, when trying to do that I get the same error message. Up until the day before yesterday everything worked like a charm. I haven't knowingly changed anything about my smartphone's configuration, no new apps etc. Had anyone ever experienced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you! I use the Dropbox app on my iphone. I used to be able to open excel files in excel by using âopen with - excelâ. But now it sends me to a screen saying Microsoft Integration wants permission. I hit the Allow button (the only other option available is âlearn moreâ) and it just takes me back to the list of files in Dropbox. I can never get past that. I used to be able to open them from the Excel app as well, but not now. Please help. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android version 12 updated 7/5/22. I was trying to open an excel file on Dropbox with Excel. It then brought me to this page saying "Sign in to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration" in the Excel app. I chose "Sign in with Google" since that's how my Dropbox was setup. After entering my email and password, it told me "You do not have any security keys registered for this account.", so I chose "Try another way". Then I chose "Tap Yes on your phone or tablet", which then caused Google to send me a notification asking "Are you trying to sign in?" I chose "Yes, that's me.", then the Authorization Error page showed up, with the following message: Authorization Error Error 403: disallowed_useragent You canât sign in from this screen because this app doesnât comply with Googleâs secure browsers policy. I just purchased a new computer with Windows 10 Pro. For some reason when opening any Microsoft Office product from the dropbox folder, the file explorer locks up and doesn't respond. From my documents folder or desktop, the files open with no issue. It is only from the dropbox folder. Tried all solutions that a google search gives me but so far nothing has worked. I have attempted more solutions than I can count. Looking for help.Solved14KViews0likes5CommentsWhen 2 people edit a Word document at the same time in Dropbox, I get a permission message.
I work with one other person. We were both working on our laptops on the same file in our shared Dropbox folder. (I was adding to a working list and she was editing above.) But I kept getting an odd request for permission and the file name changed to a long sequence of numbers and letters and was saved in another folder called "old files." So the attempt to work on the same file at the same time failed. How can we make this work?Solved13KViews0likes7CommentsUnable to open Excel files on Android Dropbox mobile app - Office login loop
Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page. It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.11KViews4likes75Comments
