I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved110KViews0likes24CommentsWhy can't I open Microsoft files on my mobile device?
I updated my iPad Pro & now I can't open Dropbox files in Microsoft apps. I can see Dropbox, and I can open in other apps (Adobe, for instance), but Word, Excel, etc. tell me that the server is gone or the files are no longer on the server. But they are where they belong, and I can open them on other devices.Solved75KViews8likes173Commentscan't save files from Office365-app to Dropbox - supposedly write protected
Hello there! Starting yesterday all of a sudden I can't save files to my Dropbox via the Office 365-app anymore. I get a message telling me that the file is write protected, which it isn't. It tells me to save a copy, when trying to do that I get the same error message. Up until the day before yesterday everything worked like a charm. I haven't knowingly changed anything about my smartphone's configuration, no new apps etc. Had anyone ever experienced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you! Hello. I've had the same password protected Word doc in my dropbox for years now. On the same Android device I've been using for years as well, I am suddenly unable to open that file. When I try, I get a "File type not supported" error. There is no "open with" option. There used to be one. I have tried reinstalling, wiping cache and data, etc - Dropbox app as well as Office and Word apps. I have tried unlinking and linking Office and Word to Dropbox. On my device as well as on the web. I have tried saving the file to device. There is nothing wrong with the file. I can open it just fine from Dropbox PC. I can also open it on my phone from the Word app. When I try to open a non-protected Word doc, I get a preview. And only then does an "open with" option appear. Solutions desired: Setting Dropbox Android to open Word docs in the Word app by default rather than trying to give me a preview. Also, reinstatement of the "open with" option outside of doc preview. (This has completely disappeared for all my Dropbox files, not just this one.)Solved16KViews2likes30Comments"Error 403: disallowed_useragent" when trying to sign in to Dropbox to access Excel file
Please help. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android version 12 updated 7/5/22. I was trying to open an excel file on Dropbox with Excel. It then brought me to this page saying "Sign in to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration" in the Excel app. I chose "Sign in with Google" since that's how my Dropbox was setup. After entering my email and password, it told me "You do not have any security keys registered for this account.", so I chose "Try another way". Then I chose "Tap Yes on your phone or tablet", which then caused Google to send me a notification asking "Are you trying to sign in?" I chose "Yes, that's me.", then the Authorization Error page showed up, with the following message: Authorization Error Error 403: disallowed_useragent You can’t sign in from this screen because this app doesn’t comply with Google’s secure browsers policy. We just switched to Dropbox for Business. We have several Excel files with formulas that link to other Excel files all saved in a shared folder. With our local server the links would work for every user the same. Now with using Dropbox, the link will work for one user and not for another user. If the 2nd user changes the file path to make the link work for them, then it will no longer work for the first user. How do we make it so all users in the shared file can open the Excel file and have the links update without having to change the file path for each user?Solved14KViews2likes3CommentsFiles in Dropbox showing up as "Copy of xxxx.xxx" in my recent items lists
I use the "recent items" lists quite often. For instance, I right-click on the MS Excel icon down in the system tray, and it brings up the most recent items I've opened in Excel. I can open the file and work on it from this list. I've done this for years on multiple Windows 7 machines with files located in DropBox. A more recent machine is giving me headaches though, and I'm not sure if it's related to Windows 10 or not. Now, instead of listing all the files I've worked on, it lists each file numerous times, and the files are all listed as "Copy of XXXX.xls" rather that just "XXXX.xls". How can I make these "Copy of" copies go away, so I only see a list of the files I've worked on?12KViews0likes10CommentsStarting Mar 1, 2024 you won’t be able to open Dropbox files in Google editors
I followed the Learn more link, which said, "Google editor will no longer work for opening or editing non-Google files in Dropbox. To continue editing these files, an additional Microsoft Office license may be required." What if I do not have a Microsoft Office license? Will another free editor be available in place of Google Docs?Solved9.3KViews0likes12Comments
