Dear All, I would like to suggest that when an owner removes a member from a shared folder - we get a notification of deletion. It is important to track this as sometimes we don't even realise when we are removed from a shared folder. this can happen for various reasons (for instance, migration to other systems, changing data policies). additionally, it would be good if some members (who had access and contributed to the folders by uploading files) could be given the chance to retrieve at least the files that they have uploaded to the folders. this would also help with ownership and prevent data loss. Another idea is to possibly allow (long-standing) members who have been part of shared folder for, say, more than 3 years - to retrieve the folder if needed, when this is deleted. Just some ideas.30Views2likes1CommentHow to stop "This shared file already synced" pop-up when opening synced files from a shared link
Hey! This is a very recent issue for me, it was fine before Every time I open a Dropbox link to a file that's already synced on my computer, I get this annoying popup saying the file is already synced (screenshot below). Can we please get a "don't show this again" option? It's super annoying when you're opening links all day and I want to view them in the web version instead of the app. Also please let me know if there is already a way to disable this that I was blind to. Thanks! : D44Views0likes7CommentsI received a Dropbox survey invitation on the desktop app, that looks suspicious. Is this real?
"Got a few minutes? Get $5. Help us make Dropbox better". The window name is "Sprig electron view" (so it's not even using the standard Windows notification service). Anyway, the only notifications I have enabled are: "files and folders shared with me" new files synced edits to files , so I don't think disabling any of them would help. What is going on? This is on a Family plan.34Views0likes2CommentsI keep receiving annoying sound notifications from my Win11 Dropbox app.
A few days ago, on my Win 11 PC, I started getting Dropbox notifications multiple times a minute. There were small information boxes that appeared for a while. I think that I changed a setting to stop the boxes, but still the annoying tone keeps sounding! I clicked on the icon in the system tray and clicked "pause syncing", but that did not stop the sound. I then clicked on my initials, then Preferences, then Notifications, and then turned off all notifications. The notification sounds (I assume they are notifications of some kind) persisted. The notifications on my Dropbox account (via Chrome) all seem to be email notifications, and probably not relevant. The only way that I can stop the notifications is if I choose the "Quit" option from the app (in the system tray). The syncing seems to be continuous. Mostly just 2 or 3 files, but then all of a sudden it shows over 500 files syncing, then it quickly drops to 2 or 3. I don't know if this is related, but for better security, I recently created an Admin account and downgraded my everyday account to a non-admin account. I think that the Dropbox issues happened before that change, but I am not 100% certain. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!66Views0likes9CommentsI received an email about my storage being almost full even though I'm not near my account's limit
I recieved an email from no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com saying that I have used 84.57% of available space and my storage is almost full, even though I'm only using 19.6 GB of my 2 TB. Is this a spam?167Views0likes3CommentsRemove advertising popup modals from paid plans.
Hey Dropbox team! I know popup modals are all the rage on websites these days. You know where a user goes to a website, starts looking for a thing, and then BAM the most important thing that the marketing team wants them to see pops up and interrupts their flow? So today, I went to look for a file to fire off to a client and that happens to me...IN MY DROPBOX USER PORTAL (I have paid plan) midway through typing a word! How tacky is that? (hint: incredibly tacky). And to make things even wilder, when I was venting about this to Dropbox support (I know, no one over there listens or cares, but if I'm going to be distracted from a simple task, I should really go all out, right?), the support staff (who hadn't actually read my complaint) sent me to a help center article about email notifications (that's how I know they didn't read it). Before I could get a sentence into the topic, BOOM, another modal! This one asking me how satisfied I was with the help center. So I ask, is disrupting users from using the product somehow beneficial to business? Are you getting qualitative survey responses by posing the question before the user could possibly have formulated an answer? My suggestion: stop making my paid experience reel like some amateur-hour-free-tier garbage. I know you can do better.92Views5likes3CommentsReceived emails that my file requests were closed for folders I deleted years ago
All of a sudden I received a "your file request was closed" on 5 folders that were deleted over 5 years ago. Does anyone know what is going on? I currently do not use the file request option, and have not for over 5 years. The notification listed folders I did make, but deleted in 2017.56Views0likes5CommentsNot getting notifications when files are added to folder
As the title says, I'm not getting notifications when a file has been added to a shared folder that I created. I can see that something was added if I view "Sharing activity," but I'm not getting notified. In fact, when I click the bell icon to view my notifications, the last notification I have is from last month... so, if there is sharing activity from 10/17, how come there is no matching notification about a file being uploaded? I noticed this happening today, when I received an email last night about "Last week's updates in your shared folders." I'm like LAST WEEK????? How come I'm just now seeing this??? (Granted, it was just Thursday when they were added, so it hasn't been a full week, but still...) File added 10/17 (today is 10/22) and I'm just now finding out that some files were added.
