We love Dropbox transfers, but we donât need an email saying that we just created a transfer, 5 seconds after we created a transfer. Transfer download notifications and emails are also extremely annoying. Some of our transfers are downloaded by dozens of people. I donât need 50 emails plus 50 desktop alerts. We know that we can turn off download notifications for individual transfers, but we should be able to set this as a default. Please add transfers to the notifications page in settings so we can control these settings globally.205Views1like2CommentsNotifications for new file request uploads
My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. He'd really like it if the mobile app icon showed the "little red number" for unseen new file uploads. I don't see any option for notifications on new uploads... [edited by moderator to remove the second suggestion] Also, the web interface for posting this has reset twice right before I could post it, wiping my entire post. I had to type it up somewhere else and paste it here. No idea why that was happening...192Views4likes5CommentsTurn off email notifications for file request uploads.
Hi there. We run a community radio station, and people are constantly uploading new audio files to us, so our email account is getting bombarded with notifications every time a new file arrives. We check our Dropbox account regularly, so these notifiations are completely unnecesssary, and we would like to have the option of turning them off. I looked through the Dropbox forums, and it appears as though other users have been requesting this feature for many years, but you still haven't implemented it! Can you pleae take this into consideration?186Views5likes3CommentsShow IP logins in easy accessible log
Since IP addresses are not shown in security allerts of new login I want an ease accessable "Your Logins", just as you have the "Your Activity", in the program/app and in web login. Notification just mentioning that there has been a web browser login without mention from where (what IP address) is pretty useless, so I need to see from where the access is to eliminate the suspicion of unauthorized logins somewhere, without searching in settings for open sessions. Thank you.143Views1like4CommentsOption to disable email notifications for file requests
I would like to stop receiving email notifications of file request uploads. Currently in Dropbox Business there is no way to disable this feature. I have created a zap to email individuals when their folder is uploaded so we don't need the notices and find them annoying. Thank you so much!142Views0likes2CommentsNotification icon for unseen new files
Taken from this post. (https://www.dropboxforum.com/idea/101002013/notifications-for-file-request-uploads-and-icon-on-unseen-new-files/826030) For some reason it's giving me an error if I try to put this as a link... My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. I think it'd be very helpful if there was an option to show an icon on any unseen new files, and to have folders have a number icon showing how many of these unseen new files are inside. Kind of like unread emails/texts.127Views3likes2CommentsShow full filenames for transfers under desktop app notifications.
As a UX person, it always hurts me when I see somewhere people hides useful information behind their nonsense thinking. It's like "Let's not think and do whatever you can" It's their Desktop APP notification about a Transfer download. "Your transfer was just downloaded" Do you guys have any clue what transfers are downloaded without clicking on the little button "Manage"? You are viewing notification on the app, but clicking on manage will get you to the browser and look below, Dropbox doesn't have enough room to show the full name of the transfer? I would like to fire the Dropbox UX guy and give him/her 100 lashes for this odd UX behavior. Is AI the Nonsense doing these? And guess what, they were able to show the name for the Transfers that are being expired. Amazing, right? But couldn't show the name of the Transfers those are downloaded which has more importance sometimes. Any Dropbox UX person out their to explain the situation. And I'm sorry how I wrote this up, but I've been using Dropbox for over a decade and I'm tired of this and finally took the time put it here. NB: I love this forum editor. It's the best among others I've used for a while. Thank you!114Views1like2CommentsShow notification icons on files that have comments
In "grid" layout, display an icon for each file that has comments against it. Suggested icon - styled similarly to the notification bell icon in the top menu, but shape is a speech bubble. Just like the notification icon shows a red dot when you have new notifications, and a white number within that dot telling you how many new notifications there are, the speech bubble icon should show a red dot when there are new/unread comments on the file and there should be a white number telling you how many new comments there are. Clicking the speech bubble causes the larger panel to appear on right of screen (as it currently does - at least currently for photos), but that panel should be shifted to the left and a new panel should open beside the file (ie on the very right edge of the screen) that shows the discussion thread for that file. At the bottom of that panel is a data entry area where you may start a new comment. Importantly, the speech bubble icon should be permanently displayed in the grid view and not rely on the mouseover action. In the event some users would prefer not to have this new icon displayed, provide a user setting where users may disable the permanent display of this icon. When permanent display is disabled, then the user must mouseover the file in the grid format in order to see the icon (similar to how the star icon only appears when you mouseover a file). Although I have described desktop here, similar functionality should be introduced to the mobile app also.114Views1like1CommentIdea: Enhance Sync Info Window with Clickable Files and Detailed Sync Status
The new Dropbox sync info window (v224.4.4811, 2025) is too vague, especially for large folders (e.g., my 350GB folder). It shows â74 files remainingâ but doesnât list which files or whatâs happening (e.g., redownloading, indexing). Older versions had better sync details. Please add these features to the sync info window: Clickable Files: Allow clicking on files in the sync window to open them directly in their location. Show Waiting Folders/Files: Display a clear list of folders and files waiting to sync, including their paths and sizes, to identify bottlenecks. Giving clear marking of files that are yet to sync or not. Detailed Sync Info: Provide specific details (e.g., file name, progress percentage, status like âdownloadingâ or âverifyingâ) for each file/folder in the sync queue, similar to pre-2020 versions. Also any permission errors. These changes would make sync tracking transparent and user-friendly, especially for large datasets. Thanks for considering! Currently I feel this is amazing that it is not standard. The last option is for having a simple way to have mutliple folders for mutliple windows users. Currently it is almost impossilbe to use the same drop box folder for two users.110Views0likes2CommentsShow a warning/alert if the limit on moving files on the website is exceeded
I had some issues trying to move several folders and files from one folder to another on Dropbox web, I was moving around 200+ folders with files and folders inside and it failed when moving them to another folder at the same time. I opened a ticket for it (#24692326) and also would like to Dropbox team to take a look at it, or if possible to show a warning/alert about the max. files/folders that can be moved at the same time on the web app. Thanks in advance73Views0likes2Comments
