Organize
44 TopicsAllow us to hide certain folders from the Photos tab.
------------------------ It would be very helpful to have the option to select which directories to include or exclude in the "Photos" section. We often store images or screenshots in specific folders, and these end up mixed in with our main photos, creating visual clutter. Being able to limit the display to only the directories that actually contain photos would help maintain a more organized and focused experience. Wouldnât it be amazing if we could customize our Dropbox folders to make them more visually appealing and easier to organize? I think adding more options to personalize folders could make a big difference, and Iâd love to hear what others think about this idea! Here are a few features Iâd suggest: Folder Colors: Imagine being able to color-code your foldersâso much easier to spot what you need at a glance! Custom Icons: A simple icon, like a music note for your playlists or a book for your eBooks, could make folders feel more intuitive. This icon could be applied to the already existing folder image, or replace the folder with just an icon. Upload Your Own Images: Personalize your workspace with photos or unique images as folder coversâpractical and fun! These tweaks wouldnât just look great; theyâd make organizing and navigating files so much smoother. Plus, other platforms already offer similar options, and it would be awesome to see Dropbox join in! If you think these features would be helpful, letâs make some noise and get Dropbox to consider them. What are your thoughts? Do you have other ideas for folder customization? Letâs chat in the comments and show the Dropbox team how much weâd love this!886Views14likes7CommentsThe ability to add tags in the mobile app.
Iâm not sure why this has been suggested for years now and this basic functionality still isnât present in the app. This makes your automation really frustrating if I canât add tags on my phone when Iâm away from my computer and adding files from my phone.307Views7likes7CommentsCamera Upload filtering & Album organisation.
I would really like to see some key features added to the camera uploads folder. For example, having separators by the year when photos were taken or the ability to filter by location (if available) would be very helpful. Also, a tab for albums would be a nice addition. I'm trying to shift away from using Google Photos for backup and instead rely on my Dropbox plan, since I have plenty of space. If Dropbox could enhance its camera upload backup system, it would be a game changer!167Views4likes5CommentsA visual tree map for smarter storage management of a Dropbox folder structure
We often need to know what our Dropbox space is being used by. What if we could see it, visually and intuitively? Iâm proposing a new Dropbox feature inspired by tools like SpaceMonger: a visual storage map that shows your entire Dropbox as a treemap of nested rectangles, each one sized in proportion to the space it consumes. Folders would be represented as boxes within boxes, giving you an immediate sense of which areas are taking up the most room. This birdâs-eye view would make it dramatically easier to identify storage hogs, clean up unneeded files, and make informed decisions about organizing or upgrading your storage. Integrated directly into the Dropbox web interface, it would be a natural, powerful addition for users who care about managing space efficiently, whether you're close to your storage limit or just trying to be informed and strategic on how you use it. Of course, the particulars of the UI/UX could be debated by your experts, but the gist is that an intuitive visual representation of our subscriptions' allocated space and how it is being used would be a tremendous addition to the platform. Hello Dropbox team đ I would really really love to be able to see tags appear besides the name of the files in any view, or folder, and on the mobile app, web version, and desktop app. Just a nice coloured tag left to the star icon would be wonderful. Yes, I know at Dropbox you are not a big fan of small, seemingly unnecessary cutomizations that don't serve an immediate and measurable purpose, but making customers happy is very important (here by improving UI and UX significantly and seemlessly for a small amount of time and effort). I'm sure the intern could figure it out in three days. Also if you are hyper motivated you can add a filter for tags to sort files (but NOT necessary, making them visible and coloured is already a great improvement). Here is what I imagine when I say tags: For colours you can do just like in Notion, where you can choose from pre-determined colours:208Views4likes4CommentsViewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs.
Viewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs. An example of the need for the photos that I put in a folder for a client is this- I photographed a construction site to capture existing conditions along a perimeter of a project. Itâs important that all the photos facing north be grouped together- one shot after another. If the client wants to follow along the walk and the conditions, it just doesnât make sense for the shots to be out of order. Not only that, it makes me look unorganized and unprofessional. Another example is taking photos of a goalie at at soccer game. Doesnât it seem logical that the shots would reflect the action of the ball and the player in the order that the ball is played? Having the shots in order is a necessity. Having to search and arrange myself takes extra time. I view this organizational tool as a priority. Thank you.173Views3likes6CommentsDownload all comments from a folder into a .csv file.
We need a way to download all the comments in a folder as a .csv. For instance, I have over 100 images, each with a comment from the client on it. It is neither helpful nor time saving for me to download a text file one by one. Bonus points if we could also have the images embedded as thumbnails.87Views2likes3CommentsImperative: Camera Uploads Update
Hello. Can you please make it so that people are able to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" without it cancelling the automatic uploads after doing so and also make it so that people can simultaneously upload files from multiple albums in their device into separate folders on Dropbox? This will make it far easier everyone to organize everything, especially when sharing the folder(s) with others. Point 1: As of right now, if someone were to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" folder to something else, let's say to "Andrew's Content," the automatic uploads will completely cancel future automatic uploads into that folder and create a whole entire new folder, again named "Camera Uploads," resulting in 2 separate folders which is inefficient, can lead users to become very confused, and what can be seen as an error in the algorithm from my point of view. Point 2: If a business has multiple people sharing their "Camera Uploads" folder to them, that business has no way to distinguish between which "Camera Uploads" folder belongs to whom, nor is the business able to change the name of the folder for themselves on their end. This is a major problem. Point 3: When people want to set up automatic uploads from multiple albums in their phone named, let's call them 'Content 1,' Content 2,' and 'Content 3,' and have them saved in either the same and/or separate folders in Dropbox, they can't because it is not even a feature. Can you please look into this and make these, what I think would be very beneficial quality of life, updates? Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Thank you, Andrew188Views2likes5Comments
