Camera Upload filtering & Album organisation.
I would really like to see some key features added to the camera uploads folder. For example, having separators by the year when photos were taken or the ability to filter by location (if available) would be very helpful. Also, a tab for albums would be a nice addition. I'm trying to shift away from using Google Photos for backup and instead rely on my Dropbox plan, since I have plenty of space. If Dropbox could enhance its camera upload backup system, it would be a game changer!
Dropbox new organized photo experience
I already use Dropbox as my main place to store and back up all of my photos. I intentionally donât keep photos on my phone to avoid using device storage, so everything lives in Dropbox. The challenge is that my photos are now scattered across many folders, because folders are currently the only way to organize them. While this works for storage, it makes it hard to browse, rediscover, and enjoy my photos the way I can in a native Photos app. What I would love is a dedicated Photos section inside Dropbox that treats photos as photos, not just files in folders. What this Photos experience could include: A Photos tab (separate from folders) Automatically surfaces all photos stored anywhere in Dropbox Folder structure stays intact in Files, but Photos are unified in one view (or maybe we can select which folders will be part of the photo section Date-based browsing View photos by date taken, not upload date or folder location Easily see: All photos from a specific year, Months, days, or events This would let me access all photos from one year in one place, without photos from other years mixed in Map view If photos include GPS metadata, show them on a map Ability to zoom into countries or cities and see photos taken there This would make travel photos especially easy and enjoyable to explore Filters and smart views Filter by: Date range, Location, Media type (photos vs videos), Smart groupings like: âAll photos this yearâ âTravelâ âFavoritesâ Gallery-style experience Clean grid view with zoomable thumbnails, Date headers, Album creation without needing to reorganize folders This would allow me to keep using Dropbox as my primary photo storage solution, while also having a modern, intuitive photo browsing experience, similar to native phone photo apps, without relying on phone storage. Since many users already store large photo libraries in Dropbox, a native Photos experience would unlock much more value from content thatâs already there
Photo AI Index search & Detection
Please pass this on to your engineers, please incorporate photo indexing where I can select someone's face and have Dropbox search through all my photos and find all the associated photos. But don't limit it to just human beings but let it be anything. Please incorporate this feature. Because there's so many pictures and or videos i want to delete but i have hundreds of thousands of photos to go through and it's impossible to do so. Also, it be cool if i can choose someone's face and have the option to "delete" their face in the group photo.
Viewable tags next to folders/files when you try to preview them.
Hello Dropbox team đ I would really really love to be able to see tags appear besides the name of the files in any view, or folder, and on the mobile app, web version, and desktop app. Just a nice coloured tag left to the star icon would be wonderful. Yes, I know at Dropbox you are not a big fan of small, seemingly unnecessary cutomizations that don't serve an immediate and measurable purpose, but making customers happy is very important (here by improving UI and UX significantly and seemlessly for a small amount of time and effort). I'm sure the intern could figure it out in three days. Also if you are hyper motivated you can add a filter for tags to sort files (but NOT necessary, making them visible and coloured is already a great improvement). Iâm a personal plan user and would like to request an AI assistant that can actively organize my Dropbox, not just search it. What Iâm looking for is a chat-based AI that can understand the contents of my files and folders and: - Execute direct instructions (e.g. âRename these files using this patternâ) - Propose organization actions and apply them after confirmation Examples of actions: - Renaming files based on their content and a given naming pattern - Moving and grouping related files into appropriate folders - Identifying duplicates, similar, or outdated files and deleting or archiving them Dropbox Dash is a great step for discovery, but Iâm looking for AI that can turn intent (âthis belongs with thatâ) into actual file operations inside Dropbox.
Viewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs.
Viewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs. An example of the need for the photos that I put in a folder for a client is this- I photographed a construction site to capture existing conditions along a perimeter of a project. Itâs important that all the photos facing north be grouped together- one shot after another. If the client wants to follow along the walk and the conditions, it just doesnât make sense for the shots to be out of order. Not only that, it makes me look unorganized and unprofessional. Another example is taking photos of a goalie at at soccer game. Doesnât it seem logical that the shots would reflect the action of the ball and the player in the order that the ball is played? Having the shots in order is a necessity. Having to search and arrange myself takes extra time. I view this organizational tool as a priority. Thank you.
Download all comments from a folder into a .csv file.
We need a way to download all the comments in a folder as a .csv. For instance, I have over 100 images, each with a comment from the client on it. It is neither helpful nor time saving for me to download a text file one by one. Bonus points if we could also have the images embedded as thumbnails.
Facial recognition
Facial recognition would be a useful tool in Dropbox. My Dad recently died and I had to quickly find photos of him for the funeral. I used Google Photos for this which has a photo recognition function but I have more photos in Dropbox so would have liked to have been able to search through my Dropbox files too.
Allow multiple files to be un-starred at a time
I have a large number of files that are starred. There seems to be a limit of 2000 that can be starred before they then don't appear when you apply the starred filter (which is a ridiculous limit) Even more ridiculous is that I can't un-star multiple files at once - i have to un-star each file individually - which is going to take a long time if I have over 2000!! Please, please, please build the ability to un-star files in bulk. It beggars belief that this isn't already a feature and I have to ask for it.
