24 TopicsOption to select all duplicates for multiple files
When there are a large number of files, we should be able to select them all at once and delete them. Currently, we need to select them one by one and delete each one individually. This is time-consuming and would be very easy to implement.747Views0likes5CommentsViewable tags next to folders/files when you try to preview them.
Hello Dropbox team đ I would really really love to be able to see tags appear besides the name of the files in any view, or folder, and on the mobile app, web version, and desktop app. Just a nice coloured tag left to the star icon would be wonderful. Yes, I know at Dropbox you are not a big fan of small, seemingly unnecessary cutomizations that don't serve an immediate and measurable purpose, but making customers happy is very important (here by improving UI and UX significantly and seemlessly for a small amount of time and effort). I'm sure the intern could figure it out in three days. Also if you are hyper motivated you can add a filter for tags to sort files (but NOT necessary, making them visible and coloured is already a great improvement). Here is what I imagine when I say tags: For colours you can do just like in Notion, where you can choose from pre-determined colours:302Views4likes4Comments"Selective sync from search" feature on the Dropbox desktop app
"Selective Sync from Search" feature would allow users to easily initiate selective sync for files or folders discovered through the search function. This would streamline the process of managing synced files, especially for users with large Dropbox accounts and complex folder structures. Currently, users need to navigate through the Dropbox preferences and the folder structure to manage selective sync, which can be time-consuming. Here's why this feature would be useful and how it could work: Problem: Time-consuming navigation: Finding specific folders or files within a large Dropbox account to manage their sync status can be tedious. Difficulty managing large accounts: Users with many files and folders often need to selectively sync to manage storage space and optimize performance. Potential for errors: Users might accidentally sync or unsync the wrong files or folders due to the complex navigation. Solution: Integrate selective sync into search: Allow users to right-click on files or folders discovered through the Dropbox search and initiate selective sync directly from the search results. Simplified workflow: This would eliminate the need to navigate through the Dropbox preferences and locate the specific item within the folder structure. Improved user experience: A more intuitive and efficient way to manage synced files, especially for users with large Dropbox accounts. How it could work: Search for a file or folder: Use the Dropbox search bar to find the desired item. Right-click the search result: A context menu would appear. Select "Selective Sync": Choose this option from the context menu. Toggle sync settings: A panel would appear, allowing users to easily check or uncheck the sync status for that specific item. Apply changes: The changes would be applied immediately, syncing or unsyncing the item as requested. Benefits: Increased efficiency: Users can quickly manage sync settings for files found through search. Improved organization: Users can easily tailor their Dropbox experience to their specific needs. Reduced storage consumption: Users can selectively sync files and folders to optimize storage space. Enhanced user satisfaction: A more streamlined and user-friendly experience. This feature would be a valuable addition to Dropbox, making it easier for users to manage their files and optimize their storage space.274Views1like4CommentsViewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs.
Viewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs. An example of the need for the photos that I put in a folder for a client is this- I photographed a construction site to capture existing conditions along a perimeter of a project. Itâs important that all the photos facing north be grouped together- one shot after another. If the client wants to follow along the walk and the conditions, it just doesnât make sense for the shots to be out of order. Not only that, it makes me look unorganized and unprofessional. Another example is taking photos of a goalie at at soccer game. Doesnât it seem logical that the shots would reflect the action of the ball and the player in the order that the ball is played? Having the shots in order is a necessity. Having to search and arrange myself takes extra time. I view this organizational tool as a priority. Thank you.251Views3likes6CommentsAdd a Dropbox feature to help us find empty subfolders.
Hello, I would like to suggest a feature to locate subfolders that have no information in them. I love the duplicate finder feature and have used it quite a bit but now, I am having to go back through each sub folder to find the folder that I deleted the duplicate from. It would just make life easier:). Thanks, Marsha235Views0likes3CommentsCamera Upload filtering & Album organisation.
I would really like to see some key features added to the camera uploads folder. For example, having separators by the year when photos were taken or the ability to filter by location (if available) would be very helpful. Also, a tab for albums would be a nice addition. I'm trying to shift away from using Google Photos for backup and instead rely on my Dropbox plan, since I have plenty of space. If Dropbox could enhance its camera upload backup system, it would be a game changer!235Views5likes5CommentsSearchability of media content: Efficient evaluation of videos, photos and audio files
It would be desirable to make the content of videos, photos and audio files searchable. We have customers in the music industry with extensive video archives (for example, concert recordings from the last 20 years). The ability to search all videos for specific scenes or content, for example for a compilation of a band's 20th anniversary, would make work much easier. This function could easily be transferred to other industries, such as advertising agencies looking for content in their archive for a showreel, or video productions sifting through the raw material for video editing. Example search term: man eating ice cream Result: Dropbox searches certain videos for all scenes in which a man is eating ice cream.165Views0likes3CommentsAbility to journal on photos
Commenting feature can be used, but it is not easy to view those comments without finding the specific photo. Being able to use that comment feature as a note to myself on both the original and edited file. Currently I do it by uploading the photo to Flickr, where I have a Pro account, so I can keep the photo and associated notes private. It is double work as I use the tools for different things. A simple view adjustment may be sufficient. Thank you.159Views0likes3CommentsAI Assistant to understand contents and organize Dropbox files
Iâm a personal plan user and would like to request an AI assistant that can actively organize my Dropbox, not just search it. What Iâm looking for is a chat-based AI that can understand the contents of my files and folders and: - Execute direct instructions (e.g. âRename these files using this patternâ) - Propose organization actions and apply them after confirmation Examples of actions: - Renaming files based on their content and a given naming pattern - Moving and grouping related files into appropriate folders - Identifying duplicates, similar, or outdated files and deleting or archiving them Dropbox Dash is a great step for discovery, but Iâm looking for AI that can turn intent (âthis belongs with thatâ) into actual file operations inside Dropbox.150Views3likes1Comment
