Fall is a great time of year for photographers, with possible photo opportunities at the turn of every corner. Beautiful Autumnal colors The changing of the season, moody lighting and a vast pallet of colours ranging from fiery oranges to deep purples, can be seen everywhere you look. Spooky season But, if you’re anything like me, there’s another reason why Fall, and in particular the month of October, is truly the best time of year for photography, a much more spooky reason, and that, of course, is Halloween. There is certainly magic, and a whole lot of fireworks, in the air every Halloween. From carving Jack-o’-lanterns, to houses decorated with elaborate ghouls, ghosts and goblins. You’re almost guaranteed to see something totally out of this world, or even otherworldly, if you leave your house on Halloween night. What do you think? Christmas is definitely a time of year that I find myself taking more pictures than normal. Meeting up with family and friends and wanting to capture special moments means that I have my camera on more than I don’t. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be able to share all of these photos with those closest to you. Social media can be a good way to share photos, but there are definitely times when we might want to keep these photos within a private group of people, especially when family are involved, Dropbox makes it easy to share with exactly who you want. To start with, I’ll always make sure that my camera uploads are turned on. You’ve probably heard me talking about this a few times before, but I’ll stand by my words again because I love this feature, it saves me time, space on my phone and makes sure I never lose any photos, so it’s a no brainer for me. If you don’t know how to turn on Camera uploads you can find all the information you need right here. Now that all my photos will be automatically added to my Dropbox account, I’ll figure out a way to organize all of the photos I take at Christmas into folders. Generally speaking, I’ll be meeting up with a lot of different groups of people on different days, so I’ll only want to share photos with the people that are in them, so I’ll start by making a Christmas folder, then inside that I’ll make folders for Christas Eve, Christmas Day, Stephen’s Day, New Years Eve and any other days I might be out and about. Then, dependent on what I’m doing, I might make different folders within these daily folders, for example I might do Christmas morning swim and Christmas Dinner, or Stephen’s Day lunch and Stephen’s Day drinks. Once I’ve got my folders created and all my photos put in the right place, it makes it really easy to share with all of the other people who I was with. To do this, all I need to do is create a view-only shared link to the folder I want to share, and share it with everyone who I was with when I took those photos, or anyone else I want to see them. This link will allow anyone with access to it to view and download the photos inside that folder. If you’re not sure how to create shared links, you can find out everything you need to know here. Now, if your friends and family are anything like mine, you’ll know there are 2 types of people, those who take photos and those don’t. When I want to add photos that friends or family took to my collection, I use file request. This allows them to simply add their photos, which then go directly to my Dropbox account, allowing me to easily add them to the folder they belong in. You can find out more about using file request here. When it comes to using Dropbox for organizing photographs, there are literally hundreds of things you can do, and everyone uses it a little different to everyone else. Check out how our very own Sheena used Dropbox to help create a Christmas Family Calendar for another awesome example. We’d really love to hear how you plan on using Dropbox to organize your photos this Christmas, let us know in a comment below.3.6KViews1like0CommentsHide folders from Photos tab
I have a lot of photos in my Dropbox, both edited and raw/unedited files. It would be great with the possibility to hide certain folders from the Photos tab so that e.g. all of the unedited raw files doesn't show up in between the final versions. Also, this would allow hiding folders with other image files that you don't want in your photo collection. This could either be some right-click folder property, or it could be done by adding e.g. a .dropboxhidephotos file to the folder.157Views7likes7CommentsPhoto AI Index search & Detection
Please pass this on to your engineers, please incorporate photo indexing where I can select someone's face and have Dropbox search through all my photos and find all the associated photos. But don't limit it to just human beings but let it be anything. Please incorporate this feature. Because there's so many pictures and or videos i want to delete but i have hundreds of thousands of photos to go through and it's impossible to do so. Also, it be cool if i can choose someone's face and have the option to "delete" their face in the group photo.54Views2likes1CommentWhite-transparent logos with automatic white bg

When I share a Dropbox link to a folder with photographs, the web link is not optimized for photo viewing on any platform (phone or desktop). The thumbnails are too small and compressed. And on a phone's web browser, users can swipe through individual photos, but it requires two separate taps, thereby quickly becoming cumbersome. I am suggesting the idea to have Dropbox photo folders appear as a dynamic, tiled gallery, much like on a dedicated iOS or Android app. Google Drive's photo gallery is a great example of how to implement such a feature on Dropbox.70Views0likes3CommentsHow can I upload my iCloud photos to my Dropbox account?
I have run out of space on iPhone due to excessive photos. I want to move my photos to dropbox. Photos are on iCloud. What steps do I take to move the photos from my iCloud account to my dropbox account? Both are on the cloud. The iCloud photos are accessible on my macbook. I tried dragging and dropping and that didn’t work. I don’t have the dropbox app on macbook. Not sure I have the space for it. Thank you! I use Dropbox on my computer to backup my work files which include my 3D renders that consist in a png sequence (one image per frame at 30 or 60fps), so I have thousands of png images related to renders but dropbox automatically adds them to the camera uploads in my phone app which is extremely annoying because I need to scroll down thousands of images to see my actual photos... if I delete them it deletes my render backup as well, it does the same thing for textures, which makes my photo roll unusable.219Views0likes8Comments
