Setting up the apps
1338 TopicsIs there a version history for desktop app updates? I have issues with the context menu on MacOS.
Hi, I'd like to know if there is a versionhistory of the last couple of dropbox updates somewhere, I'd like to see what changes were made and issues fixed. Can't find anything on the website. I'm still having a hard time with dropbox not showing it's contextual menus in finder on macos. Plus, I'd like to update dropox by myself, I don't like automatic updates (and not be informed of changes at all).3.6KViews1like2CommentsThe Dropbox folder icon appears as a blank page on my newly-installed Windows 11.
Application Affected Dropbox (Microsoft Store version) Device Windows 11 Custom Build PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and now 25H2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 234.4.5591 Question or Issue On my new PC I have installed Dropbox via the Microsoft Store. It is all working, except the Dropbox icon itself is wrong in Explorer for my Dropbox folder. It is just showing a plain white piece of paper. Again this is a brand new system with a brand new install of Windows 11 Pro that I did myself - nothing weird, I didn't use any of the means to "debloat" - it is just a default Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 install. I had the problems on 24H2 and it upgraded to 25H2 the other day and that has not changed the issue. It is more of an annoyance than anything because my eyes are used to looking for the dropbox icon appearance to find it and the plain white paper doesn't stand out so much.Solved332Views0likes13CommentsHow do I re-link the File Provider Dropbox folder?
Hi, I upgraded to the new file provider dropbox a few months ago. In the last few weeks, dropbox didn't seem to be syncing, even after I clicked move to online only and my hard-drive suddenly filled up leading to mac warning signs. So I logged out then back in. When I logged back in, I found that dropbox had "unlinked" my file provider folder. It had forgotten that I had done the file provider update and made a new blank old-style dropbox folder, which it is trying to start resyncing everything. The trouble is, I don't have enough hard-drive space to enable it to fully resync, and I'm worried that there might be data in the file-provider folder that never actually synced to dropbox online, so I can't delete anything. And it won't let me re-update to file provider until everything is synced. Which it can't because of the lack of harddrive space. Finally, the nature of my work means that I have more than 500,000 files and so I had all my settings setup to avoid that trap, but dropbox also seems to have forgotten that. And I can't edit them until it's synced. Given that 10 minutes ago, everything seemed to be working fine (or maybe not given the potential lack of syncing), I'm pretty frustrated. How can I simply re-link my file provider folder so that I don't lose anything or have to resync 500Gb? Or any other suggestions to get me out of this catch 22? Any advice would be very welcome. Many thanks, Helen51Views0likes3CommentsHow to share a Dropbox folder between Windows and Linux installs on the same PC?
Currently it is impossible to share a Dropbox folder between Windows and Linux installs on the same PC. They appear to contain the same files with the same metadata, but Dropbox for Linux refuses to write to an NTFS partition, and similarly Dropbox for Windows refuses to write to ext4. Is there a workaround for this? I don't want two copies of everything. I have been a loyal Dropbox user for years because I believe in supporting software that does one thing and does it well, but this "no mixing filesystems" rule means I have to choose between Dropbox and my dual-boot. I would love it if I didn't have to choose, and I'm sure I'm not alone!674Views3likes5CommentsUnable to rename the Dropbox folder to create a new folder.

Application Affected (Dropbox) Device (Powerspec PC) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 10) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (236.4.5918) Question or Issue I've seen a couple of questions bring this up but it never gets answered. I'm in the middle of the loop with reinstallation after having to go to a hard drive clone and it's telling me "There's already a a folder or file named Dropbox." The location where I sent it is the parent folder of "Dropbox" so it's in the location where I want it. I just want to know what happens if I click "Rename"? What does Dropbox do with the old files, and what will it do AFTER it renames the folder? Will it redownload all my files to a new folder? Will the old folder still be there? Will it actually try to merge the files? Please give me details so I can understand the entire process and not lose my files. And I assume that if I click "Choose another location" and I just create a new folder for it, Dropbox will download my entire Dropbox to that new location, correct? Thank you!226Views0likes18CommentsHow can I re-link my desktop app to an existing Dropbox folder?

Scenario: Android Samsung S8 Tab in DEX with mouse. Middle button scroll works perfectly anywhere but in the file section of Dropbox. In Home, Photo and account section of dropbox the middle mouse button scrolling works. In file section it is not. Seems like a bug to us. Any take?169Views1like6Comments
