How does one remove the Dropbox link from the Navigation Pane om Windows 10?
I don't notice it on Win8.1, but I have already hacked out a bunch of stuff in the registry on Win8.1. I have the Dropbox folder conveniently located in the root of a second hard drive, I don't need the link cluttering up the Navigation Pane, or the Desktop for that matter.Solved152KViews24likes73Comments
How do I remove Dropbox from my Mac if I get an error message when attempting to uninstall?
I am trying to delete the Dropbox app from my Mac, but it gives me an error message saying 'The item “Dropbox” can’t be moved to the Trash because some of its plugins are in use', even after closing all other open applications. Hi, My Dropbox is complaining! New PC, due to work, and now dropbox gives me this error message: This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows". It worked fine, problem came up, I reinstalled, same problem again after a restart and redone the reinstalled and getting same problem again: What to do? [Solved] Dropbox installed on my mac but it won't open and other problems.
Ok I just switch from a pc to a mac. I installed dropbox from the website and it shows it's in my applications and in my launch pad but when I click the icon it won't launch. I then tried to uninstall it and it doesn't give me that option when I have all my apps wiggling in my launch pad. So I then researched on how to uninstall and I found that I can pull up finder and drag and drop the application to the trash. When I do that I get a message "The item “Dropbox” can’t be moved to the Trash because it’s open.". So then I try and force quit Dropbox and it isn't listed to be forces closed. So I am assuming it isn't running? Help I just want it off my computer. I don't like items on my computer if I don't or can't use them. Info on my Mac OS X Yosemite version 10.10 Please remember that any help that is given I need step by step instructions. MacOS Finder - how can I add Dropbox back to the sidebar?
Before I upgraded to Catalina (MacOS 10.15.5), Dropbox appeared under my favorites in the sidebar of Finder. After the upgrade, it was gone. I've searched many threads where this is apparently a common issue but the solutions appear to be for earlier versions of MacOS as the view I am seeing under Catalina does not match the solutions. I understand folders can be dragged to the sidebar. The problem is, I am not seeing the folder on the right, in order to drag it into the sidebar. I tried the "go to folder" but it only navigates to the files within the folder - it never shows a folder labeled Dropbox. I have the Dropbox App installed but it isn't helpful either as when I click on it, it opens a Dropbox window that, again, shows the files I have stored there. I want to be able to easily move files to Dropbox or access them to attach to an email, as I could before I "upgraded" to Catalina (which is starting to feel distinctly like a downgrade).Solved107KViews2likes32Comments
Dropbox Apple Silicon (M1) install
Hi, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13" with the M1 processor and I cannot seem to get a native install of Dropbox for this chipset. From searching the community, it seems like M1 support should be available in the latest installer. However, trying that plus the latest beta build all ask me to install Rosetta during installation. On my OS X 10.9.5 system I'm seeing Dropbox consume CPU whenever anything on the file system changes, regardless of whether the changed files or folders are in the Dropbox synced folders. The CPU usage is proportionate to the rate of file system changes. When I'm running an installer that takes a long time and has high disk activity (e.g. installing a documenation update in XCode), then the Dropbox CPU usage goes through the roof and I see the Dropbox sync status change from 'up to date' to 'indexing'. For less sustained activities with less intensive file system changes, I see Dropbox just popup briefly in the list of top CPU consumers -- but it shouldn't be showing up at all (or certainly not at double digit CPU use and not for the duration of the file system activity. My guess is that Dropbox is simply listening for file system events and reacting to each one as if it might be change in a synced file or folder. It should be ignoring fsevents that are for items outside the Dropbox folders -- but it seems not to be the case. :-( :-( I'm on 3.0.3, but have been seeing this problem since the 2.* days. -- Dave Hein102KViews10likes63CommentsMapping Dropbox to network drive in Windows 7

I want to conserve my hard drive space and access, open, and save files to my Dropbox through my network drive. I can do this with other cloud-based storage systems. Move Dropbox folder to removable drive?
I have an Intel Compute Stick with very little storage on the device itself. I tried to move my Dropbox folder to a microSD card installed in my Intel Compute Stick but I got an error message from Dropbox because the microSD card is removable.
