Space and storage
213 TopicsAllow a personal account to have more than 3 TB, or more than 4 TB with the add on
Hello, I'm a graphic designer with over 15 years of workload. This obviously equates to extreme files sizes. I was disappointed to learn Dropbox don't offer a package for single users over 3TB. I work solely and require more cloud space and don't want to have to upgrade to a 'per user' plan as this isn't cost effective. This option has to become available soon.62KViews188likes221CommentsWhy do shared folders take up my own account's space?
I'm working for someone who has a dropbox pro acocunt unlimited account. However, it won't let me upload to his dropbox because I have a free account and limited storage. I work for lots of people I can't join every storage solution out there. He has paid for pro, I should be able to upload to it and it should not count as part of my digital storage. I'm uploading images for him to use, into his dropbox acocunt, my account should not have any bearing should it? If it does its a very very stupid bit of product planning. Or have I misunderstood the messages I'm getting? Cheers JohnSolved7.5KViews5likes3CommentsShared folders, why do I have to pay for someone elses files?
Someone sent me files on dropbox, to access I had to sign up for an account, fine. But now dropbox says my account is full and I need to pay to upgrade. I have never uplaoded a file to dropbox, so my account is not full. I can only assume dopbox wants me to pay for the files on somone elses account. If this is the case this is an absolute con, they are already being paid for the storage by the other user, why should I have to pay to access them?Solved5.5KViews5likes1CommentWhy do shared files count against my space use???
Why are files shared with me counted against my space usage? Is this data counted twice? If someone who is sharing files with me is paying for this space, why should I have to pay as well just to access it? I am out of space, I have no intention of buying more space, and yet, when someone shares some files with me, I cannot access them and I am forced to buy space in order to access them. Why is this? Thank you.Solved29KViews4likes144CommentsDropbox Cache taking up too much space
Hi everyone, I seem to be having a significant issue with my dropbox, specifically cache. Over the past week, I noticed that the storage available on my mac had dropped from 63GB to 4GB (of a 128GB SSD). After some digging, I found that the cache was the cause of this. I tried deleting it once I found it to be the cause of me losing storage rapidly, and initially storage went back to normal. However, the next day, it seemed like every minute another GB was being taken up by the cache. Again, I tried to delete the cache, but as expected, the next day the same thing happened. I know that dropbox clears the cache automatically every 3 days, but right now dropbox doesn't allow me to sync as I now have less than 1024MB remaining on my hard drive, and I am not sure if after those 3 days the same thing will happen. Please help me Thanks, DanielSolved7.1KViews4likes5CommentsAuto delete files after a certain amount of time
Hi! So I have a folder on Dropbox which i use to send files to a client. Over time this folder gets bigger and bigger, filled with more and more files. Is there a way i can set an expiration date on a file, so that it gets automatically deleted? ie. I send a file in March, i set a timer on it so that by May 1st it auto deletes. This would mean i wouldn't have to stay on top of the large amount of files I'm sending, plus it would constantly keep the folder a little more bearable, and would free up Dropbox space. Many thanks!2.9KViews3likes2CommentsWhy can't I add more than 2GB of shared content to my account?
Dear community, A friend of mine has shared a dropbox folder with me and he is paying to have 2TB of storage. However, we thought that when he shares the folder with me I am also allowed to upload more then 2GB of data into the shared folder (since it belongs to him), however, this does not seem to be the case I cannot upload more than 2GB? Do you know anything about this? Any potential solutions would be much appreciated! Best, FlorianSolved5.3KViews2likes10CommentsHow can I cancel my computer backup?
I apparently selected pc backup when I installed Dropbox and naturally I'm out of storage on my Dropbox account now. I don't want and have no need to have my pc backed up to it. I have the desktop app but am not able to find the preferences section to stop it from backing up. I did try just deleting My PC from Dropbox but a message comes up and says if I delete "My PC" it says it will be removed from my Dropbox and from the computer. If I delete it in Dropbox, does that mean I'll lose everything on my laptop too? Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question but I am. 🙂 Any help stopping the PC backup would be greatly appreciated.Solved25KViews2likes58Comments
