724 TopicsHow to move files from Google Drive to Dropbox
I'm trying to move the files from my company's Google Drive into Dropbox. However I everything a Google Doc file is encountered (.gsheet or .gdoc) the process of copying files is suddenly aborted with not feedback to which file or even folder caused the problem. Since we have thousands of folders to transfer I'm trying to avoid wasting a weekend weeding out Google Doc files manually. Has anyone encountered this problem too? Is there any trick, tip I can use? Thank you! EdoSolved120KViews3likes11CommentsHow do I fix a 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges' error?
I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved110KViews0likes24CommentsWhy can't I open Microsoft files on my mobile device?
I updated my iPad Pro & now I can't open Dropbox files in Microsoft apps. I can see Dropbox, and I can open in other apps (Adobe, for instance), but Word, Excel, etc. tell me that the server is gone or the files are no longer on the server. But they are where they belong, and I can open them on other devices.Solved76KViews8likes173CommentsSpotlight Search Doesn't Link to Files in Dropbox in macOS 13 Ventura
After upgrading to macOS Ventura, I was prompted to upgrade to "Dropbox for macOS 12". I proceeded with that, it moved my Dropbox folder to ~/Library/CloudStorage and confirmed all was successful. Now when using Spotlight to search (I often type something like 'drawings folder' to open a folder called Drawings) the results in Spotlight show the Dropbox app icon beside the name of the item I want (rather than a Finder icon for folder or file). Hitting Enter or clicking on the result switches to Finder and does nothing, or sometimes will open the Applications folder and show the Dropbox app. It's not linking me to the actual file in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I have done the following and the problem is not solved: Restarted Ensured all files are available for offline access Rebuilt the spotlight index Unlinked Dropbox from this Mac, did a complete clean install of dropbox, performed the upgrade to v159.4.5870 and synced just one folder to begin Nothing works. Any suggestions??Solved62KViews20likes398CommentsI can't open Word/Excel files on iPad/iPhone
Hi. I've searched the forum/web and can't seem to find any answer to this problem. Until a couple of weeks ago I could edit in all Office-files in Dropbox via both iPad and iPhone. Then earlier this week I suddenly can't do this, and I'm asked to log-in with a 365 subscription. Has there been a change I haven'r been awere of, and do I now have to have an active 365 subscription? I use Dropbox basic, and the files are .docx and .xlsx. Thank you for your time. Hi all. I use a tablet (Samsung) to open excel 'quote sheets' that are stored on dropbox. I always open the same file then use the 'save as' to save it under the customer's name. The problem is when there has been a slight alteration to the original file, my tablet seems to want to open the version before! The only way I can stop it doing this is to call the 'quote sheets' something slightly different ('quote sheet 1'). I do go onto drop box and have that file available offline and when the 'quote sheet' has been altered it does update itself so drop box knows that there is a newer version but as soon as I open it with excel the old version pops up again! Anybody had this issue? I have put this question on the Microsoft website and they said it was a dropbox problem! (Passing the buck comes to mind!) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_excel-mso_other-mso_o365b/excel-keep-opening-an-old-version-of-a-file/721c23a8-b672-4a3d-93ca-152ab6475cc1 Thanks in advance ;-) JoeSolved49KViews1like7Comments
