Hello Everybody! I have created this thread to provide updates on Dark Mode for Dropbox on Desktop. We are closing off the longer thread for general Dark Mode requests so that we can provide our community with updates for specific products, and so that requests don't get lost. At the time of posting, our team is looking into Dark Mode for Desktop, but cannot provide a time frame for implementation. You can vote for this idea and comment here to show your support. I will update the status of this idea when we know more! Regards, Ben12KViews29likes46CommentsSynchronize network folders over NAS
A lot of people own a personal NAS. A lot of people use Dropbox. So... A lot of people use Boxifier too. It would be great if Dropbox will integrate Boxifier features natively. That could even be a payable feature with a little add-on to "lower" plans and directly included in "upper" plans. No more pain about brokening of Boxifier when upgrading Dropbox102Views5likes2CommentsStop Downloading Before Out Of Disk
Today, Dropbox does not gracefully handle running out of disk. It keeps going until it gets an error from the operating system that there's not enough space left at which point it's not even able to show you how much space it's using because there's not enough disk space for that to function. Ideally Dropbox would leave at least a couple GB so the system can keep functioning until the user has time to do something about it. Also, don't keep retrying - one notification after another about not being able to download is useless until a significant amount of space has been freed up one way or another. Making it easy to open a window with space usage and encouraging the user to keep more files cloud only would be much more user friendly.88Views3likes2CommentsMake Dropbox compatible with Linux ARM processors
When I searched for this, I found this suggested several months ago for the purpose of Raspberry Pis. That suggestion was closed for inactivity. I had been using Dropbox in my Linux virtual machines on Mac with Intel processors for quite a long time. I just got my first Mac machine with Apple Silicon and was so disappointed this didn't work in the Linux VM on the ARM64. I depend on ability to share between the Virtual Machine and other devices connected to Dropbox for several of my workflows, and currently must use the Dropbox website to download, make my change, delete the online copy, then upload it again while in the Linux Virtual Machine. And hey, it sounds like adding this would help the Raspberry Pi folks too!134Views3likes2CommentsMove "Sync next" back to the right-click menu on the desktop app.
Sync Next is for when there are multiple files syncing but one or more of which are needed sooner by the user. The best place to select which ones should synch next are by right-clicking those files themselves. Moving the option into the right-click menu make it easy for the user to select exactly which files are important to sync next without scrolling through hundreds of disorganized filenames in the status menu.232Views3likes2CommentsAllow Users to Pause Auto Updater
Dropbox checks for new versions and updates automatically, but various partner vendors such as Boxifier may experience issues with supporting new versions (as just occurred with Boxifier). The solution to get Boxifier working again immediately was to find an older version of Dropbox (with the help of the Dropbox Support Team), then manually disable the Dropbox Auto Updater services through Computer Manager in Windows 11. Because this is not an isolated incident, and there is the possibility of future Dropbox updates causing individual issues on various user devices, it would be a great feature if users could revert back to the previous working version of Dropbox and disable auto updates through the settings feature in Dropbox until the issue is resolved.57Views2likes1CommentAllow AppData(or any) Folder on my computer to be backed up
There's already another idea but it has been closed. I'm floored this wasn't a easy/obvious idea that I would expect to be implemented many years ago. Why is the backup feature so restrictive on what I can backup? Please (re)consider or I'm curious why not?98Views2likes1CommentSetting a keyboard shortcut for "View on dropbox.com" in the Dropbox Desktop App on PC or Mac
I want to be able to open the currently selected file or folder directly in the web browser on dropbox.com with a single keyboard shortcut — without having to repeatedly open the Dropbox app or right-click and select "View on dropbox.com" every time. If this feature were provided, I think the Dropbox web interface could be used much more easily and conveniently as a file viewer.195Views2likes2Commentscontext menu
Select which options appear in the context menu (When you Right Click) This suggestion appears to be one relatively sought after as there are multiple 'help threads' with people trying to do this, and no shortage of information for people to do it through unsupported and unofficial means. The reason I suggest allowing users to chose what options that appear, is because I personally would only need one or two of the options available (currently in Windows 10) and will rarely ever need another one or two. Even embedding these options in some kind of menu so they don't fill up the context menu with 7 (for me) additional items would be an improvement!144Views1like3Comments
