We’ve made some big improvements to the Admin Console, and we want to hear what you think! Note: the Admin Console is available to team admins, not individual accounts. Managing your Dropbox team just got simpler, faster, and more intuitive. Whether you’re an experienced admin or just getting started, these updates are designed to help you work more efficiently and with greater confidence. What’s New in Admin Console Settings Take action and resolve issues fast: Quickly find what you need—settings, support articles, and team member information—all from a single search bar in the admin console. Simpler navigation: We’ve consolidated nearly 80 settings (previously scattered across 30+ pages) into a streamlined structure that’s easier to browse and understand. Global Settings lets you manage settings that apply across all Dropbox products (like Dropbox, Dash, Paper, Sign, and Replay) Dropbox Settings controls Dropbox-specific features (file sharing controls, storage limits, etc) Faster experience: Switching between settings no longer requires a full page reload. Everything loads smoothly within the redesigned Admin Console. Clearer design: Settings pages now follow our latest design standards, making it easier to see how different settings interact and to understand what changes will do. Why We Made These Changes to Admin Console We heard your feedback, and wanted to share what drove this redesign: To reduce frustration: The old Settings were spread thinly across many pages and were slow to navigate. The redesign makes finding and updating settings much simpler. To save you time: Faster loading, search integration, and direct access to key settings mean admins can spend less time clicking around and more time getting things done. To make setup smoother: Especially for new admins, the redesigned flow makes it easier to configure important team settings early on. To provide confidence: The new UI makes it clearer what you’re changing, when your changes are saved, and how different options work together. We’re continuing to improve the Admin Console experience and would love to hear what you think. Have thoughts, questions, or feedback? I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5. I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-click on the folders, however, I'm not getting the option from the drop-down menu to make the files online only. Any suggestions? Thank you!Solved11KViews2likes56CommentsEnable EU Data Residency for smaller Dropbox teams under 10 licenses.
As a Dropbox Business user, I believe it's essential to have the option to store our data within the European Union, even for teams with fewer than 10 licenses. Due to compliance obligations (e.g., GDPR and internal data protection policies), many companies require data residency within the EU, especially in regulated industries or working with European clients. The current limitation that only teams with 10+ licenses can request EU data storage is restrictive and excludes smaller teams or startups that still have strict compliance needs. I strongly suggest that Dropbox consider enabling EU data residency for smaller teams, starting from 3 users, or at the very least, for any team using business-level licenses. This would significantly increase the product’s appeal for professional users with legal or contractual data localization requirements. We appreciate Dropbox’s commitment to privacy and flexibility, and we hope this improvement can be considered in future updates.634Views1like2CommentsWhy can't we link separate Dropbox accounts, unless one of them is a Dropbox team?
Like many my businesses was deeply impacted by Covid, forcing me to lay off all of my staff in my Consultancy company, downsize and focus on my hospitality business that was also deeply impacted. Fortunately I was then picked up as an individual by a much larger consultancy company. This left me needing to downsize my consultancy business teams accounts down to one, but still of course wanting to keep all its valuable data safe, and also keep it separated from my personal dropbox. I called dropbox support and got advice on how to do this, but after completing it I was totally shocked to discover I was no longer allowed to link my personal and work accounts! This seems shocking to me that Dropbox would have such a strange and inconvenient rule in place. Surely I can't be the only customer in the world that functions as an independent Sole Consultant that would like to run linked but seperate work and private accounts, and is happy to pay for both??? I have great trouble seeing that there is any technical issue here for Dropbox. ie zero work to make customers happy, and would be more than ok to pay slightly extra for this very basic service. But Dropbox support tells me the only way to do this is to pay for a minimum of three accounts that I simply don't need. In case someone asks, why not just merge into one account, because I'd like to continue the option of re-expanding my consultancy business when opportunity arises, and prefer to maintain and share the folders with the other associate consultants we have worked with for decades, maintaining known business work flows. From a dropbox point of view if im happy to pay for two accounts and would like to link them so I can sync both easily... why the hell not!?! (FYI. This is from a very disappointed longterm customer who has promoted literally hundreds of people to use Dropbox, and is now looking for other storage options)995Views1like2CommentsUnable to check boxes in the Selective Sync settings to choose folders to sync
Hi there, Selective Sync has something going on with it. It won't let us select additional folders in the list available. It shows all the folders we have, but you cannot select them, the little tickmark in the checkbox won't tick. We are MS Windows 10 and 11 users. We have dropbox business subscriptions for 50 employees. It happens accross the whole firm. Any advice or other people having the same problem?1.5KViews1like8Comments
