Dear community, I'm here to advice that the support have been denying us additional space for two weeks, first telling us that there was a momentary problem, then that we had made a request before the 7 days, then again (after waiting 7 days) that there is a problem which however is not written by Nowhere. We're really worried about that because they don't give us any timelines and the fact that the problem doesn't exist on the dropbox status page and that nobody else talks about it seems a bit suspicious. I don't like writing these posts but we are really worried don't you think? Are any of you having similar problems? do they only have it with us?124KViews14likes615CommentsDropbox removing external disk support for Mac users
In case anyone's unaware... if you're a Mac user storing your Dropbox on an external drive, you'll shortly lose that ability. https://talk.tidbits.com/t/dropbox-drops-support-for-storing-files-on-an-external-drive-and-onedrive-retains-it/20797/16 https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-support-for-expected-changes Just confirmed this with DB support (see below). Gutted - been with Dropbox for years and our entire video team flow is based around it 😕 >Hi there, I read today that you are scrapping the ability to store the Dropbox folder on external disks, on OSX. I'd like to ask more about this please. > Hello Jon, and thank you for contacting Dropbox Support. My name is Joseph, and I will be more than happy to look into your request, right away. That is correct Jon, as part of the Dropbox for macOS update, the Dropbox folder must be located in ~/Library/CloudStorage. >This is a showstopper for us, and will mean we have to move to another service. We have a large distributed team using DB for video work, no way it'll fit within internal drives. Is there a workaround? > I totally understand and I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, there is no workaround on this as changing the location of your Dropbox folder is no longer supported by macOS. >This change doesn't seem to have hit us yet - we're running a variety of machines inc Ventura What will trigger its enforcement? Can we stay on an earlier OS or Dropbox version? >The updates happening automatically every time the Dropbox app is restarting, for example if your device never restarts it should maintain the older version but we can't guarantee full functionality on older versions of the application. >So what will happen - if we have a Dropbox folder on an 8TB drive and a tiny internal drive - will it try to clone stuff across and eat up the space? What's the mechanism? >That's right, it will try to move the content on your internal drive until it has no space and gives you an error. >Is Smartsync still supported? I.e. will it move stuff to being online only if it won't fit? >It is, however it is now known as online-only.Solved114KViews25likes697CommentsAdvanved Storage Account / Usage shown is not correct.
So our company has an Advanved account. We went from having 50TB free to suddenly being 50TB OVER our allocated quota, which means our storage went up 100TB over night. When I run the storage report against our current users, it does NOT match the amount of storage our account page shows we are using. We do not share files or directories, sharing at the admin level is OFF. The Advanved Technical team started investigating it and then they suddenly stopped responding. They acknowledged their is a discrepancy among what our actual storage is vs what is showing as used, but that was the end of the conversation. Now whe are stuck, not being able to sync because we are over quota. And DB seems clueless to how this happened. I re-ran the current users total storage today, and the total amount used between all active users is still way below what our account is showing as "Used." How can I expedite this? Our free remaining quota just went *poof*.Solved4.8KViews0likes14CommentsRegular vs. Shared Files storage and how does Dropbox count them?
Hi all, I'm on a business plan, and dropbox is currently telling me I have 134.4 GB of regular files, as well as X storage of shared files. What determines the file type? The company is also looking into reducing the number of subscriptions we have. How would that affect my usage? Additional information: I used to have the dropbox desktop app, but I uninstalled it and it isn't backing up my files any longer. I was wondering if the storage issues might be due to previous backups, but I can't find them to delete them. Thanks,3.9KViews0likes5CommentsHard drive is full, even though the files are online only.
I have made lots of files online only to free up space on my hard drive, but dropbox has stopped syncing claiming that there is not enough disk space. The top level folder says that it has 5TB of content, but in the four folders it contains there is less than 100 gb. I have restarted dropbox, restarted the computer, and waited for ages, but the problem persists... Please help.3.9KViews1like7CommentsUnable to access content in order to delete it due to plan change
My account recently reverted to personal from business. I want to delete data but cannot as it is part of an old Backup function and I can no longer access the Backup function as my storage is now over quota. I am also unable to talk to support diurectly as I do nto have a paid plan. I want to delete data to bring my account into the free zone but am unable to. Catch 22. Help?Solved3.1KViews0likes13Commentsstorage information
Hello, the space in my business account is full and in the chat they tell me that they cannot put more space that there is an error in the system. I have been using the service for 11 days and 5 days that they do not add space. Is this normal? Or is it that they limit me because I am uploading a lot of information in these 11 days I have uploaded 40TB, thank you2.3KViews1like6CommentsOur Dropbox team has gone over-quota and I can't permanently delete my files.
My Client (Call it Client Gamma) has a Dropbox Standard Account of 5 TB. Only we 2 are the members of this account. Client Gamma is the admin. When I log In to Dropbox I get 2 Folders. My Personal Folder (Call it FOLDER ALPHA) and the Folder that my client uploads files to (Call it FOLDER Gamma). Now I have other clients(Call it Client Beta) as well. And Clients Beta have invited me to their Dropbox account. These client's folder (Folder Beta) appear inside my FOLDER ALPHA. So these folders should be independent from my main client's folder (independent from Client Gamma). > PROBLEM 1: Now Client Gamma's Account Storage is Full. I proceed to upload files to my other client's folder (Folder Beta). Their accounts are not full. But I get Dropbox is full error. > Problem 2: Hoping to create space, I decide to go to the deleted files section where my old files are rotting because I can't permanently delete them. The files I had in the FOLDER ALPHA are mine. The admin (Folder Gamma) doesn't even have access to Folder Alpha(My folder). But I can't permanently delete my own files unless I have permission from Client Gamma? I am really confused. Someone explain to me what is happening and how to solve this?2.2KViews0likes5CommentsTeam members seem to be using 0B, even though they access content larger than that.
Hi i have a subscription for my users on dropbox. They are able to upload and download files how ever their usage still reads 0 bytes. Why would that be so? and at what point do we see a change in usage size?2.1KViews0likes14Comments
