I created 2.4M files over the limit on the desktop app and now it's stuck syncing.

After almost 48 hours of this, I discovered that this was way too many files. My remediation was to exclude the top-levl directory from syncing. I made that change ten hours ago, but the app is still grinding away, doing something. I tried exporting the logs to find out what it might be doing, but the logs just show up as binary data -- I don't know how to read them. How can I sort this out?

I'm sharing photos and videos, as well as production documents with clients and love to get their feedback on the specific file. However, many companies prohibit employees from generating their own Dropbox account, which is needed to comment on the files. How about just having to "sign up" with their Name and Email in order to get notifications? Would love to have an easier way to share files with clients and get their feedback as simple as possible.How To Check If Your Space Is Being Used By A Shared Folder and How To Leave A Shared Folder
Shared folders are one of the easiest ways to collaborate with others while using Dropbox. Having a shared space makes everything simpler when you’re working on a project, sharing family photos or keeping your teams files all organised. But you might be wondering: Does this shared folder take up space in my Dropbox account? And what if I no longer need access - how do I leave it? Does a Shared Dropbox Folder Count Toward My Storage? It depends on how the folder was share with you and what level of access you have. Here’s how to check: Sign in to dropbox.com and click All files. Look for folders with a two-person icon 👥 - these are shared folders. Hover over the folder name and click the “…” (More) menu. Choose Share → then Settings. You’ll see one of these options: Can edit → the folders contents do take up space in your Dropbox account Can view → the folders contents don’t count toward your space Tip: You can also check shared folders directly from the Dropbox desktop app - the 2 person icon works the same way there too. How to Leave a Shared Dropbox Folder I No Longer Need If you see “Can edit” and you no longer need access, it’s really easy to remove yourself from the folder. Here’s how: Go to dropbox.com and sign in. Click Shared in the left sidebar. Find the folder you want to leave. Click the “…” (More) button next to it. Select Leave folder → and confirm. Once you leave: The shared folder and its files are removed from your Dropbox. They’ll no longer count toward your storage. Other members will still have access as usual. If you originally created the shared folder, you’ll need to transfer ownership before leaving. To do that: Open the folder’s Share settings. Click the dropdown beside another member’s name. Select Make owner → then leave the folder. That way, everyone who needs it still has access and the ownership transfers smoothly. And that’s it! Keeping your Dropbox account organised is a simple way to make more room for what matters most - your ideas, projects and memories. Calculate all sizes
I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe or have time travelled back to 1985 but I would like to propose a simple, brilliant, obvious, missing feature: The ability to calculate sizes of multiple Dropbox folders. So that I can select hundreds of Dropbox folders (in the web version to get a true picture of actual storage) then calculate all sizes, then sort in size order. This has been a part of most operating systems for what, 20+ years? But Dropbox doesn't facilitate it. A cynic might suggest that it's a deliberate move to avoid customers seeing what is taking up space and choosing to delete, using up less space and therefore spending less money. But surely Dropbox wouldn't treat their customers in such a way...? I've been a loyal customer - and advocate - for many years in the face of cheaper competitors but this has honestly blown my mind.
Persistent Indicator for Files with Unresolved Comments
Currently, Dropbox shows a comment notification only when a comment is new or unread. Once the comment is read, the indicator disappears even if the comment is not resolved. This makes it hard to see which files still require attention. I would like Dropbox to introduce a persistent visual indicator (badge, icon, number, highlight, or any small marker) that appears whenever a file has unresolved comments, regardless of whether they have been read already. Why this matters: Teams use comments for review and approvals. After reading a comment, there is no quick way to see that the file still needs action. Users must open each file and check the comments panel to find unresolved comments. This leads to missed feedback and slower collaboration. How it could work: Show a small badge next to the file name in the file list when unresolved comments exist. In the file preview, show a subtle “unresolved comments” indicator even if all comments are read. Save Offline Folder Link to Home Screen on iOS
I want to be able to go directly to a single offline folder directly by clicking on an icon on my Home Screen on iOS just like I can add (share) a URL from Safari to my Home Screen. One click on an icon on my Home Screen takes me directly into a specific folder in Dropbox folder.Scroll through photos in fullscreen mode on Android devices
Currently, it's not possible to scroll through photos smoothly in the app on Android devices. This limits usability, especially when browsing photo collections. I suggest implementing a swipe or scroll feature that allows users to navigate between photos seamlessly, simular to galleri apps.
