setting up the apps
1310 TopicsLogged out of the Dropbox app and back in and now I have a 'Dropbox (old)' and a 'Dropbox' folder
Application Affected Synching files Device PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Windows Desktop Question or Issue Had a funny problem with the Windows Explorer status icons not all being corrected, and saw a recommended to "simply" sign out of Dropbox and sign back in. Simple enough. Which I did. I then got a pop up asking me (telling me really) to rename my Dropbox folder. I said OK, and I now have a Dropbox and Dropbox (old) in the User directory. All of my files are in (old). None are in new. Every link on my PC to my old files is now of course broken. I paused syncing because I am worried Dropbox is going to try and create an entirely new copy of all of my files in the new Dropbox folder. Does anyone know what it going on here? And how to put things back to they way they were before? Why on earth would a logout/login totally reorganize all of my files??? I'm kind of dead in the water right now so any help would be greatly appreciated. Dropbox support seems to be non-existent.22Views0likes4CommentsHow can I move my Dropbox files to a new computer?
Windows 11 Pro Dropbox I have this Dropbox installed on my now much older and computer and want to move this over to my newest, extremely faster new system. Both are on my home network. What is the step by step process to copy or move this data? When the move is complete there will be no new data sent to the old computer. The data is a massive amount of telescope images taken remotely and sent as taken to this account. The system is in California while I am in Virginia. Currently this account has just over 1TB of raw data to be moved. The old drive in the old computer will be removed and stored as a physical backup. I just want the quickest way to transfer the data please and the step by step process to accomplish this. I'm 71 years old, somewhat comfortable with computer systems however this new Windows 11 Pro will take some getting use to. The new computer has 2 - 2TB m.2 hard drives and 2 - 16 TB 3.5" hard drives. The second m.2 drive is mainly used as swap folder space for image processing. I've used Dropbox for years but know little of the inner workings. I install, usually with some issue it seems, then it just does its thing. Just installed DropBox update v157.4.4808 on a MacbookPro 13,3 running MacOS 12.6. DropBox location was moved by installer to ~/library/CloudStorage and alias moved from "Favorites" to "Locations" in sidebar. DropBox support doc "https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-faqs" says new location due to change in MacOS. HOWEVER, installed same DropBox version on an iMac 18,3 running MacOS 12.6 and the location did not change! DropBox alias remains in "Favorites". Anyone else run across this discrepancy? Anyone have an idea as to cause of this discrepancy?Solved20KViews0likes72CommentsDropbox App unexpectedly quit on Windows 10
I get an error when I try to open the Dropbox app saying "Dropbox unexpectedly quit. Your files are safe. Restart Dropbox..." It started about two weeks ago (and around the same time as two other unsolved posts on the forum). Two days ago I formatted my computer and reinstalled programs. This morning I opened the computer and saw the same error. Running Windows 10. Does anyone have any suggestions?Solved15KViews1like41CommentsMacOS and multiple Dropbox accounts
Hi! Can anyone answer whether or not the new Dropbox for macOS will permit multiple DropBox account to be supported? Currently using the Mac Automator app I can have multiple instances of DropBox running, all pointing to their own discrete folders for me to support the different organisations. Support were far from helpful in whether this was possible. Will it still be possible if I upgrade as the files now move to the ~/Library/CloudStorage folder...so how can I create discrete standalone folders for each instance? Many thanks. Note: I'm not interested in whether this is officially supported by DropBox, simply what is possible in operation, as it currently is now.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsHow do I stop Dropbox from showing on my C drive but keep it on my D drive

To turn off computer backup: Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). Click your profile picture or initials. Click Preferences. Click the Backups tab. Click Manage backup. I don't have the option to do this Uncheck the folders you’d like to stop backing up to Dropbox or uncheck My Mac/My PC to turn off backup for all folders at once. Click Save. Choose Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac or Leave content in Dropbox. If you choose Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac, the files and folders you stopped backing up can be found in their original folders on your computer. If you choose Leave content in Dropbox, new files you add to those folders will save to their original folders on your computer, but the files and folders you previously backed up to Dropbox with computer backup will remain in your Dropbox account. On your computer, they’ll be accessible by shortcuts, in their original folders, called “My files in Dropbox”. Note: If you see Set Up instead, it means computer backup is already off. "i see set up". Click Stop backup. dont' have this option Click Close.5.1KViews0likes4CommentsIn the Event Manager, every second it shows " Failed to connect to the driver". What is this?
