uploading very large files I have tried to upload a 300GB file to dropbox (I have 1TB capacity) using the Mac desktop application and I am being informed that there isn't enough free space. I bought this extra memory as dropbox write:"Files uploaded to Dropbox via the desktop application or mobile apps have no file size limit". Am I doing something wrong?Solved47KViews0likes12CommentsI'm an assistant trying to upload videos
Hi, I'm an assistant trying to upload videos on my computer to the Dropbox account of the person I work for. He has a Dropbox account with 2 TB, I have a free account with 2 GB. At first, he gave me his login info, and I could not get in. It said I had an invalid email or login. I know this is the correct info because I use it on his computer and it works. Next, he tried contacting Live Support. They told him to share the folder with me that I'm supposed to drop the videos into. But when I log into my account, and click on the folder, it only lets me upload 2TBs of files total and then has told me I'm out of space. I don't get this. The folder was created in his account with 2TB which he is nowhere near using even 1/4 of that storage. How we can work this out? Any suggestions? He wants to use Dropbox, but I'm all for finding another platform if something this simple can't be done. Thank you, JillSolved5.5KViews0likes2CommentsInconsistencies regarding my available space and feedback about Dropbox
Sharing my experience with Dropbox: As a user on the free plan, I've encountered some ongoing issues that have made it difficult for me to consider upgrading. Every time I open my computer, Dropbox pops up and asks me to join again, which can be frustrating. Moreover, there has been a discrepancy between the storage space indicated on my computer (102 GB) and what is actually available for upload on my phone (23 GB). This inconsistency has left me feeling like they are playing games with their users. I believe many of you can relate to similar experiences with various apps that seem more focused on profit rather than genuinely caring about their users. For me, it's crucial to have a reliable service that I can count on, especially when it comes to storing important files. Unfortunately, until I can trust that Dropbox will stop misleading me and provide a consistent service, I am not inclined to pay their monthly fee. Additionally, I currently have an urgent need to back up my entire computer, but I've encountered a roadblock. The upload button that should allow for immediate file transfers is grayed out, preventing me from taking the necessary steps to safeguard my data. This lack of functionality further reinforces my decision to refrain from considering their monthly fee. Thank you for taking the time to hear my frustrations. If you've had similar experiences or have recommendations for alternative cloud storage solutions, I would appreciate hearing from you! PS I know this may seems petty, but trust me, I have a very good reason I need to have this space available to me tonight, like right now. I I am not going to get into the reason why, that is irrelevant. What is relevant is that if a company claims to have your back, but then, in reality, they do not,, then that’s something I feel the public needs to know about. I don’t just casually, flippantly, get on app support pages and make complaints like this because I’m bored, and I have nothing else to do. This is a major inconvenience to me, and I will just say this, dropbox has completely failed me tonight.2.8KViews0likes7CommentsQuestions about uploading files when promotional space is expiring
I have a promotion of 100GB of free space for 3 months for a promotion, but I have only used 60GB of 100, there are 5 days left until that promotion ends and I have to upload some files that in total make 40GB, the problem is that I don't have long enough to upload all the files, the question I have is that, if I move the folders to the dropbox from the PC and they remain uploaded, if the promotion ends, will it still let me upload those missing files or will it not let me?Solved2.7KViews0likes1CommentOur Dropbox team has gone over-quota and I can't permanently delete my files.
My Client (Call it Client Gamma) has a Dropbox Standard Account of 5 TB. Only we 2 are the members of this account. Client Gamma is the admin. When I log In to Dropbox I get 2 Folders. My Personal Folder (Call it FOLDER ALPHA) and the Folder that my client uploads files to (Call it FOLDER Gamma). Now I have other clients(Call it Client Beta) as well. And Clients Beta have invited me to their Dropbox account. These client's folder (Folder Beta) appear inside my FOLDER ALPHA. So these folders should be independent from my main client's folder (independent from Client Gamma). > PROBLEM 1: Now Client Gamma's Account Storage is Full. I proceed to upload files to my other client's folder (Folder Beta). Their accounts are not full. But I get Dropbox is full error. > Problem 2: Hoping to create space, I decide to go to the deleted files section where my old files are rotting because I can't permanently delete them. The files I had in the FOLDER ALPHA are mine. The admin (Folder Gamma) doesn't even have access to Folder Alpha(My folder). But I can't permanently delete my own files unless I have permission from Client Gamma? I am really confused. Someone explain to me what is happening and how to solve this?2.2KViews0likes5CommentsError space limit reached but there's still space available
I like to use dropbox to back up my photos from my iPhone. I have a folder storage limit of 5.25 GB. Recently it's failed to upload photos if the amount exceeded 3 or 4 GB. Made sense at first, getting close to that 5.25 limit. But now it won't import even small numbers of photos (1GB or less) , I get error messages saying "Importing these photos would fill up all your Dropbox space. Failed to import..." and direct me to upgrade and get more space, but I currently only use 81.5 MB out of that 5.25 GB limit. I've tried restarting my computer, restarting dropbox, nothing has fixed it. Any suggestions?1.8KViews0likes9CommentsAll of a sudden I don't have space on my Dropbox account
Hi peeps, I was given access to a folder by my NFP. All good for a couple of months, now, although there is only 500mb of stuff in it, it has stopped syncing and I cant upload files to it. There are other folders in the drop down, that are mine. Could my folders be taking me over the limit somehow? How do I fix it so that when I use this NFP folder, there is still 1.5TB to go? Thanks for your help, this is driving me crazy1.3KViews0likes3CommentsDuplicating files without impacting storage
Hi, I am a content creator and have been asked by my manager to create an open-access stock imagery section for my colleague. I can use several folders worth of imagery for this, but I do not want to duplicate the files in those folders and create a bespoke space, as it will impact my storage. Can I build a folder of duplicates that will not affect my storage?1.1KViews1like3CommentsUploading files to another accounts folder
I am trying to upload files to another users folder which has plenty of space left, however my personal account is on the basic plan which has run out of storage. Hello, I have Dropbox Business 2TB, but my colleague only has his normal account. Wasn't it earlier that he could send me e.g. 500GB in this folder because it was my (!) memory? His upload keeps stopping because his private Dropbox is full? Is there anything that can be set in Dropbox? That would be stupid. How else can he send 500GB to me, possibly for free? thanks, mazSolved721Views0likes1Comment
