Device Dell Inspiron 3480 AOI Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) On my phone it is 448.2.2; I can't find an app version in my computer settings. Question or Issue My computer was going into the shop so I moved all of my important, personal files from my Desktop to Dropbox.com. When I tried to move them back, I got a message telling me to select the file folders I wanted to be on my hard drive. (I assume the rest of the folders will be hanging out on Dropbox.com and the cloud.) After selecting the relevant folders, they totally disappeared! They were not on my hard drive and no longer on Dropbox.com. I finally found a little box to check "see hidden files" on Dropbox.com. When I clicked that, they reappeared on Dropbox.com but they are nowhere to be found on my hard drive or desktop. So, I started trying to copy the relevant folders one at a time to my Desktop. I've been using DB for 10-20 years and now I can't even figure out how to transfer my files from Dropbox.com to my Desktop! I used to be able to just right click on the folder, hit copy, and hit paste on my desktop. Now it says it will only copy the link, not the actual folders. I want the actual folders! I've tried everything I can think of. I have transferred some of the folders to my email and then saved them to my Desktop. Other folders say "some files cannot be transferred" but does not give me any indication of which files can't be transferred!Specific questions: 1: I don't know how to transfer files from Dropbox.com to my desktop. 2. I can't figure out how to sync -- the instructions provided in Help do not work. I have the Dropbox app on both my computer and my phone. All of the files I have been able to move back to my Desktop do appear in my phone app. Thanks for your help! I have files in a folder Library>Audio>Presets that are constantly updated but there is no way to add this folder to the desktop app. The workaround is to copy the folder to another folder to have it uploaded. Duplicating data on the host machine is not ideal. Can we have an option where we can perhaps type the folder location?195Views0likes6CommentsIt's really hard to move files between two Dropbox accounts on the website.

Hello my upload speed is very slow on one PC, i have two pc's on my network, my fastest and main pc is now slower when uploading to drop box. Hi ... I've noticed that the DropBox IOS Mobile App isn't uploading or indexing photos in the background. To be perfectly honest the App isn't doing anything at all whilst minimised. The screen shot below shows if the app isn't shutdown fully and is left running in the background the days are not even updating. (Phone switched on plugged in over night). Instead of displaying "Today" "Today" & Yesterday it should read "Today", Yesterday and the 28th December. Restarting the app corrects the problem. I do appreciate IOS does dictate to some extent what apps can and can't do in the background especially when using battery power or the battery is low, but it makes no difference if my iPhone 13 is plugged in or not as the Dropbox app doesn't update or upload photos in the background. I've tried the same test with OneDrive which does what it is meant to do and will update and upload photos in the background, only stopping when the phone is indicating low battery power, or there is a poor Wifi, Cell phone coverage... Other IOS apps also seem to update ok which would point to a possible fault with your app ... any thoughts, am I missing something? .... Thanks in Advance.. App Ver 406.2.2 IOS Ver 18.01 Tried deleting/re-installing etc184Views0likes5CommentsDropbox website is extremely slow when accessing or uploading files
Hey, guys. Long-time Dropbox user, but perhaps not for very much longer. Every time I try to go to Dropbox in the last couple of days, it is unresponsive. * No matter what browser I use * No matter which part of the website I try to access (it took 20 minutes to update a payment method) * Uploads (65 files, 15Mb each) estimated to take "days." Completely hangs. * Speedtest.net reports that my upload speeds are close to 1Gb. * Bitdefender has dropbox.com whitelisted. * I'm on ethernet connection... not WiFi. I really need a resolution here, or I'm going to have to put another solution in place.1.1KViews2likes10CommentsWe need an official Dropbox data migration app for faster migration to new machines.
Hi There, Even with a 200Mbps up/down internet connection and a gigabit ethernet connection to a Mac on the same network, it still takes days to migrate Terabytes of data to a new Mac. I've read the instructions about not migrating data via disk copy/migration apps but it's unacceptably slow to login to Dropbox, and wait for a sync to transfer data. REQUEST: Create a Dropbox migration app that properly copies Dropbox data from one disk to another. That way, we could connect two Macs via thunderbolt, copy the data via the app and only wait for a sync/check, no copying of actual data. Hope that makes sense. If that doesn't work then please, there has to be a faster way. Cheers, Ben150Views0likes3Comments
