Solved

Blank screen and problem when trying to open a zip file.

New to Dropbox today (28/08/2022) opened a link from a family member to download the zip file which went fine, then when I tried to open the ZIP file all items simply disappeared. I went to Dropbox where I could see the photo's and clicked on the link, however the screen went blank (white)

Trued on numerous occasions, but as soon as I click the file to open it, the screen goes blank - HELP!

Hey susduck, I hope you’re doing great.

If you’d like to save the files from the “Graduation” folder, for example, to your local device, you can hit on the “Download” button that you also mention in your post.

Just bear in mind that it’s possible to download up to 20GB of files at once from the Dropbox website, so if your files are more than that, you can try to download them in smaller batches instead.

If you have any further questions though, give me a nudge!

Hey susduck, I'd be happy to help with this!

How did they send you the file? It sounds like they're using a shared link, right? Have you tried accessing a different browser, and opening it that way just to check how it behaves?

Is the ZIP content saved into your Dropbox account when you try to open it, or to the device?

    Keep me posted!

Thank you for your very quick response.

Yes - shared link as my daughter uses DB

Sent via email with an attached ZIP file.

Saved to Dropbox and also opened file in my PC.

When I try to open it in Dropbox, the screen goes 'white' although for a split second I can see the contents of the file.

I hope the attached screenshot is helpful.

Hi susduck, could you try switching browsers to see if this helps?

Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.

Well, I have tried another browser, and it seems to be working now - thank you one and all for your help in this matter.

Just one more question for this 'newbie' what is the best way of moving/downloading this collection to my photo back up folder so that I can access them in the future?  I have seen that to the far right of each file there is a dropdown menu with: - Share, Copy link, Download, Open in and "Save as" as I do not want to lose anything, can you advise as to the correct method to use.
