Copy screenshot link versus image
Hello dear community,
When creating a screenshot in the dropbox clipboard, is it possible to create a link to the screenshot only, instead of the actual screenshot, i.e. the image?
thank you
Hi KatarzynaMaria, thanks for messaging the Community.
Are you referring to the screenshot feature in the Dropbox desktop application?
Are you using Dropbox Capture instead?
This will help me to assist further!

My friend Katarzyna likes to know the following about the Desktop application (not about Dropbox capture):
In Windows 11 there is a standard keyboard shortcut ALT+PRINT for the active window and SHIFT+WIN+S for a rectangular area.
She wants two automatic results:
1 The screenshot should be saved to Dropbox.
2 A link to the saved screenshot should end up in the clipboard, without any further manual action. Is this possible?
In macOS the Dropbox desktop application behaves exactly like that (of course the keyboard shortcuts are different)

PRINT SCRN and ALT+PRINT SCRN will result in a screenshot saved to Dropbox. SHIFT+WIN+S will not send a screenshot to Dropbox.

Is it technically impossible, that the dropbox app (not the capture app) sends a screenshot WIN+SHIFT+S (rectangle) to dropbox?
If it is possible: what do you think about my suggestion? - Jay3 years ago

Hi saerdna, Shift+Win+S is a shortcut reserved for the Snip and Sketch app installed on Windows, so it wouldn't be possible for Dropbox to take control of that shortcut.

Thanks for your answer.
When it is impossible for the dropbox app to take control over the Snip and Sketch app installed on Windows:
Is it technically possible to implement a "rectangle snip screenshot function" directly in the dropbox app?In my humble opinion the rectangle snip is the most important screenshot type amoung the others (full display, active window).
What do you think about that feature wish/that idea please? - Hannah3 years ago
