Decryption fails running iOS 14.2
Just updated iPhone and iPad to iOS 14.2. Now, trying to open an encrypted file, it tell me "Decryption Failed. Null" If I open with Excel, it works fine. Anyone else having this issue?
I also have success opening an encrypted file within Dropbox after updated 14.4 IOS update. Thanks for everyone's help and input.

- Nealwald6 years agoHelpful | Level 7Thought I would also jump in here. This is quite similar to when a company decommissions their long standing API. Unfortunately evolution causes changes. We just don’t know why Apple changed this access but unless they choose to address it, this is how it will be. I agree with Martz in that I like seeing the docs in edible format anyway and secondly anything that will make my docs more secure, makes me happy. Yes it is slightly less convenient but at least we all still have access. I read recently that Slingbox will discontinue all services in late 2022 now that make me sad. No access.

I have the same problem. No fix found as yet.

I also was able to open my password protected document in Excel app on my phone. But!! Now I have to buy an Office 365 Subscription to EDIT and SAVE any changes!!
Meanwhile, I am unable to see the work I need to see on the go using my Iphone with the os14. upgrade. I have two dropbox accounts, one work, one personal, both with password protected files.
Has anyone contacted Apple with this issue??

Oh, now I see all your posts about Apple. Contacting them doesn't help :( Yes, corporations are playing games with consumers. What's new?!

I am trying to read all other posts as we speak now. However, no one has given me a solution to being able to EDIT and SAVE when using Excel on my iphone. I have to buy 365 subscription and I don't want to spend the money!

I did that, but now Excel won't let me EDIT and SAVE without buying a 365 Subscription! I don't want to spend the money.

I'm on an iPhone 12 Mini and have just opened and edited an Excel file on my phone, made changes and I have Auto Save turned on. Once done, I exited and closed the MS Office App and closed the Apple Files App. Upon going back into the Apple Files App and opening that Excel file, which of course invokes the MS Office app and opens the file in Excel, I saw that it had saved my change. I do not have Office 365 and I have not signed in to the MS Office App on my phone.

Martz and Nealwald, I'm done with this! Kinda sorry I even started it! Anyway, I've got my workaround and it's time to move on. Take Care!

Ha ha ha, I know how you feel, believe me. I no longer have Dropbox as an open tab in my browser becuase I get tired of repeating the same old work around. If people would only read through all the posts, like I did, they would find their solutions as many here have posted them. Still, I like to help those in need so when I see the topic pop up in my email, I'm inclinded to take a look :grimacing:
