Download button keeps old filename
Hello
When I use the web interface I come across a bug:
1. Open a image in the preview mode.
2. Rename the image.
3. Click on "Download"
4. A empty file with the old filename is downloaded.
The only solution I know is to:
1. Go back one step to the folder.
2. Reload that page so the new filename is loaded.
3. Click on the image again to open it in the preview mode.
4. Click on the "Download" button.
(Refreshing the page after the name change result in a 404-page because the old filename is still in the URL.)

Welcome aboard the forum, Fredrik_P!
Were you able to reproduce the issue via a different web browser, or even incognito mode on your current browser?
How long have you been experiencing this behavior?
Let me know, and we can take a look.

Hello Nancy
Yes, the same thing happens in incognito mode (Firefox) and in Edge.
I don't know how long it has been like that, but a long time. Several weeks, maybe months.
Best regards,
Fredrik

Nancy, this behavior comes from day zero of Dropbox existence! Just repeat, as described by Fredrik_P, and you will see it. I just created a test1.txt file and renamed it to test.txt:
As you can see on the screenshot, the file gets correctly renamed within the view, but old name stays non-updated in address line (and not only). If at the same moment you hit "Download", the page will try download test1.txt - empty, of course - there is no such file anymore. That's it.
Hope this clarifies matter and let's hope your design staff will fix it.

Hey again, Fredrik_P!
Is it OK if we log a ticket for you, and have our team look into this further?

Hello Nancy
Yes, please create a ticket. A solution to this issue would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Fredrik

Hi again, Fredrik!
Our team had a look into this in the meantime and it seems that the issue is now fixed (I also tried this myself).
Can you please follow the steps you provided in your first post, and let me know if everything works alright for you?

Nancy, Yes there is a change - before a try download wrong file was on go, now "Download" button doesn't do anything. Just shows error message:
Is this the expected fix? 🤔🤦
By the way the file that shows up in the view exists!

Hi Здравко, happy Monday!
Can you clarify if you tried clearing your browser's cache, and restarting the device?
While we're at it, can you also let us know which browser you're using, and if you've updated to its latest version?
Keep me posted!

Megan, 😁 Good rhetoric! Yes, as seems, you have already fixed it. 😉 Files can rename properly already in preview too, not only in folder view (as was before). By the way, that was checked in different browsers. Thanks!
The same test follows (without side errors and properly working download feature):
