Every time I use a download link for a large file, I get "site unavailable" error.
Been having this issue for years now and every time I get sent a dropbox link for a large file (+5GB) I dread it because I know I can't simply click it and go work on something else and come back toa downloaded file. It's incredible that Dropbox hasn't fixed this issue in 2025.
Yep, Switching browsers sometimes works. Simply restarting the download sometimes works. Clearing cookies sometimes works. Clicking "resume" as soon as it fails if you happen to be watching the download sometimes works. But why am I having to figure out all these tricks to simply download a file? No other cloud service on the planet has this issue. Why can't this be fixed?

Hi there, gthomascraig thanks for posting here!
You noted that switching browsers, clearing the cache, or restarting the download sometimes helps. That suggests it might be a temporary interruption, either browser-related or possibly due to what is mentioned in this Help Center article.
If you run across this behavior again, it'd be worth checking the developer console of your browser to see if a specific error appears there.
Other than that, if you receive a folder with multiple files within, I would suggest downloading the content individually.Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
