222 TopicsHow to Workaround "Zip File is Too Large" Error
I'm sharing a multitude of large files with colleagues via a Dropbox link that are nearly 120GB in size. However, they're telling me Dropbox doesn't allow them to download it due to an error saying the "zip file is too large". Confused, I tried the link on an incognito browser to see for myself, and I see the error too. Why is there a download file size limitation? My colleagues don't have Dropbox accounts of their own to transfer these files to (and I doubt they'd be willing to to make paid accounts to do it), and I'm not giving my account login info to them (as a few threads on this issue suggested) to be able to download it via the Desktop app. I saw in a thread made a few years ago that Dropbox is easily capable of raising the file size download limit. They did it some months after someone complained about there being a 1 Gigabyte download size limit. Why don't they raise the download size limit much higher? (Or better yet, not have a limit at all?) I'm a paying customer, and the very reason I subscribed to Dropbox in the first place was to have a cloud service to store and share large files with people. If I wanted to deal with sharing smaller file sizes, I wouldn't even be paying for Dropbox's 2TB plan to begin with. I'd be using the Dropbox free version, or sites like Google Drive.Solved29KViews6likes9CommentsRemove "Log in or sign up" Popup when downloading from a shared link
We recently chose Dropbox as the best-looking and most functional drive-sharing tool for our video production company. However, there's an annoying popup prompting clients to log in or sign up when we share links. The "Continue with download only" button is easily missed, especially by older clients, making us look unprofessional. It's frustrating that such a customizable platform has this issue. We hope for a solution soon!4.8KViews7likes33CommentsWill the owner know if I download a file they shared through a link?
Someone shares a PDF file using the link. I clicked the link, and I was asked to register a Dropbox account to download the file. I am using my personal email to register this software. But I don't want the owner to know that it is me that have downloaded the file. I am concerned if the owner will know who is downloading their sharing files. What information is shared to the file owner when I download it? I am really new to this software thank you!34Views1like1CommentWget or Curl is not downloading a folder as expected via the CLI in Linux
I am trying to download a shared folder into a unix server. I first copied that folder to my dropbox and then generated a share link. The link looks something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/v5xxxxxxx/AB1xxxxxxx?rlkey=123456abc&dl=1 I have tried multiple CLI commands. Some of them are below: wget https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/v5xxxxxx/AB1xxxxxx?rlkey=12345abc&dl=1 wget https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/v5xxxxxx/AB1xxxxxx?rlkey=12345abc&dl=1 --content-disposition curl -L -o output.zip https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/v5xxxxxx/AB1xxxxxx?rlkey=12345abc&dl=1 None of them download the folder but download some script instead. I have tried pasting the URL on the web browser and that works and I can see a ~140GB zipped file starting a download. Also, I have also tested TLS connection as I saw in another post that it might have an impact. TLS v1.2 seems to be working in my CLI but not v1.3. Any help is greatly appreciated as I have been stuck on this for so many days now! TIA70Views0likes1CommentRecipient of shared link says double-click does not work
I create a link to a file in Dropbox and email it to a user. The user says that when they double-click the link, it does do anything. Their expectation (and mine) is that double-click would open the file stored at Dropbox. My conclusion is that there's something wrong with their application. Nothing is wrong with Dropbox. The email application is Thunderdird from Mozilla. Thanks for your help. SweetTasha28Views0likes1CommentCan neither "copy to Dropbox" nor download folder from a shared link
I have an Essentials license with 3Tb unused space and 50Gb download limit I believe. Someone has shared a link with datasets in a Dropbox folder. Out of 200 or so folders, 13 I am unable to download saying The folder is too large to download. It won't Copy to Dropbox either. I press the button and there is simply no response. In the shared folder window, there are no options to select a number of folders. There is no way of me knowing how big the folders are. Its unbelievably poor functionality. What am I supposed to do? Is this data simply irretrievable?38Views0likes4CommentsI can't download a file sent through a link by IA

Do you know if its possible what im trying to do? I cant solve it. (i tried with a lot of plataforms with same result) Thanks139Views0likes3CommentsMake downloading from shared link less complicated and more streamline.
It's just incredibly hard for common folks to download their files. You confuse things by making them accept all..... offering them app or web browser download...... Then you ask are they sure they want to leave page. I give out 30-40 links a month and have to explain how to download to almost every single client. I have several photographer friends and they all say same thing."""""""""382Views0likes3Comments
