This is the most important request ever! And it should be already implemented. Is to open dropbox links directly in explorer (windows) or in finder (mac), independent where the link is, whatsapp, slack, messenger, skype, any of then. Is a link, when i click today,. it always open the browser (Edge on Win and Safari on Mac), but should have an option, or in my point of view, the defult should be open in explorer/win and finder/mac. That is the way it should be. You can ask any computer user, and i know a lot ask for this and post helps about it. So, why still isn't like that? And most important, can you please do it fast? All community will give you a lot of love and more subscriptions back. Thank you!4.3KViews7likes2CommentsServer or network failed or the format is not supported error when viewing a video
I have been trying to view a video that was uploaded here but I keep getting the error message "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported." I then tried to download the video (using chrome) and it failed, saying that there was a server problem. I have tried changing my DNS settings, refreshing the page, checking to see if my browser is up to date, changed browsers, downloaded Quicktime player and VLC to try and view the video (it was captured on an iphone and is apparently an mp4 file), and even tried to disable adblock and got nothing. I'm tired of this and I just want to watch the video... What else can I do? Here is a link to the video https://www.dropbox.com/s/nru5e6j1ar2i5a9/VID_20220917_160014.mp4?dl=0Solved4.9KViews0likes6CommentsDropbox deleted files from a shared link
Hello everybody! I had a bunch of photos and videos on this account (aprox. 200). The photos were probably about 3-4 years old, and i would occasionally access them. Today when i wanted to see them again, the photos were gone. The only things left on my account are the pdfs, word files and archives. I still have some links of some of the photos, form a conversation where i shared them, but when i try to access them, i get the message that the file was deleted. -the files are not in the deleted files folder -i have no other account, where i could've saved the files -i am 100% sure i didn't accidentally deleted them -no other person has access to my account -i am not logged in on the mobile app Any ideas on how my files were deleted, or any suggestion on how to recover them would be appreciated. Thanks!Solved4.9KViews1like6Comments"That didn't work for some reason" error when trying to open a shared link.
I was sent ym first dropbox video link in my email. When I click on it it goes to Dropbox and says..." That didn't work for some reason. If it's a fluke refresh the page..." Upon refreshing all it does is repeat this error message. Any smart peeps out there that know what's happening? Thanks for any help you can provide!24KViews0likes42CommentsIs it possible to allow someone to view a shared file but not download it?
Hi there, I am looking to upload some videos for people to "view" but not download. Is there a way to set this up this way? Once they have paid for their video, I would then like to give them access to download it. Let me know if this is possible. Thank you.Solved9.4KViews0likes9CommentsMissing "Copy Dropbox link" from the drop-down menu on Mac.

I recently shared a video from my public Dropbox folder - I copy/pasted a link to the video. When I shared the video w a friend, they pointed out that my full name shows up on the video link!! That's very concerning seeing that it's in the public folder which I would expect the Dropbox team to take appropriate precautions for maintaining my privacy - especially if I shared a file from my public folder. Interestingly that doesn't come up when I check on my laptop. But I just checked the link on my phone, and I see my full name! See attach a screenshot below.. (I blocked out my last name and the file name, but you can see my name shows up in the circled area) Does anyone know to remove my full name when sharing a link like this through my public Dropbox folder?6.4KViews2likes3Comments
