When I try to share via email, the recipient doesn't receive it or the link doesn't work.

Until recently, all good.

Now - share via email inop - recipient either doesn't receive the email, or the link is inop. If I copy the link, attach to an email, then the download is OK.

Hey there, Ozfrog, let's jump right into this!

Just to make sure we're aligned here, please allow me to recap. It sounds like you have some problems when trying to add someone via email to a shared file or folder, is that correct?

Can you confirm if you're using these steps to share content?

Are you using a public email provider, or a private business, education or phone carrier domain? You also mentioned the link is inop, can you let me know more about this? Do they get any specific errors?

If it's not too much trouble could you ask the person you're sharing content with to try and add no-reply@dropbox.com to their contacts list and then share a new test document with them to see if they get a new shared invite?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
