How to download an FMPro file without having a numerical suffix added to the filename?
Is there any way to download an FMPro file in Dropbox to my Filemaker Go app without having a numerical suffix added to the filename? I want to be able to view the latest version as it exists in Dropbox. I want the new version to overwrite the version currently in FM Go.

Hi Custom Support, thanks for posting to our Community!
Would you like to share some more insights in regards to the steps you follow on your end when downloading the files?
Do you then separately add them to your Dropbox account?
Also, is it safe to assume that you're using our mobile app since you've mentioned iOS?
Keep me posted!

Yes to Dropbox iOS App.
My FM files exist as separate files in Dropbox if that's what you're asking.
I have tried Dropbox App > Home > Recents (file) > ... > Save to Device > Favorites Bar > Click on Filemaker Go Always adds suffix
I have tried Dropbox App > Files (file) > ... > Save to Device > Click on Filemaker Go in Favorites Bar Inconsistent; OCCASIONALLY overwites
I have tried Dropbox App > Files (file) > ... > Save to Device > Save to Files (I cannot find a way to make Filemaker Go show up there)

Hey Custom Support, if you export the file to your device, -but without navigating to Filemaker Go- and then check the location you've exported it to, do you see the same file name as the one you see in Dropbox?

I don't know how to "check the location (I've) exported it to" on the device. That location is within the file system of Filemaker Go. But if I use iMazing on my desktop computer and look at the files on my device in Filemaker Go, yes, the duplicate files with increasing suffixes do show up.

You likely won't be able to prevent this. Exporting the same file is going to append a number to the end of the file. I tried clearing the Dropbox cache and even deleting the existing files from the external app, and the file was still saved with the next incremental number (i.e. saved 5 files, 1-5, deleted them all, saved another and it was 6).
If I had to guess, this is an Apple thing. It only happens when I export a file directly to an app's storage. If I use the Save to Files option and select On My iPhone for the location, it will prompt me to replace or keep both files.

I would say that it is not "an Apple thing". I can run iMazing on my iMac and download files to my iPhone and it asks every time if I want to replace the existing file or keep both.

Hi Custom Support, just for clarification, when you export the file to the iOS Files app, do you get the number suffix there?

Save to Device > Save to Files
This option does not offer me access to Filemaker Go.

Thanks for the info, does this add a suffix to the end of the file name?

I cannot complete the action because I cannot choose the Filemaker Go file system from Dropbox.
