I've also tried all the suggestions in this discussion: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Create-upload-and-share/Desktop-app-is-stuck-at-indexing-for-days/td... and have uninstalled and re-installed t...

2 years agoIn that case, you can try fixing your hardlinks and permissions too bb-black
Let us know of any updates!

I fixed my hard links and permission and saw a slight change. Now it says "indexing 1633 files", an increase from 1480 files. Otherwise no change.

Can you also confirm that you've given Dropbox full disk access, bb-black?
- bb-black2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
I updated to full disk access and nothing seemed to change until I updated my app again (5th time in last week). Then it started indexing many files (7,000+), but then got stuck again indexing at 1,596.

Hi bb-black! I’d like one more screenshot from you, if you don’t mind.
I’d like you to click on the small Dropbox icon in your menu bar > click on the icon with your initials/profile picture > go to Preferences > Sync tab.
Please send me a screenshot of your Dropbox folder location, as shown there.

yes, I had given up on dropbox syncing, not enough time for awhile to work on making it happen without any success to date

Thanks Walter.
I got to step 1, download Dropbox, all looked good. 2nd step never appeared to sync
I downloaded Offline Installer (Intel). Have 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor

Do you happen to be on the Basic plan with 3 or more devices connected to your account bb-black?
You can see a list of your connected devices and web sessions on your Security page.

This may be the problem. I see my MacBook Pro listed many times. Should I delete all of those and start fresh? I also have 2 other devices, iPhone, iPad for a total of 3.
- bb-black2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
No actually the long list of MacBook pros are not currently linked, I read the page wrong. So a total of 3 devices. Should I unlink my current listing of MacBook and then try again?

I am on Basic, Using 7.7 GB of 10.75 GB

It worked, my new dropbox is syncing. However, the files that were not syncing that were on my laptop (on the non-syncing dropbox) seem to have disappeared. Any suggestions on finding them?

Is the app still syncing or 'up to date' bb-black?
Do you see any signs of those files in your events page by the way?
- bb-black2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
yes I do. Do I have to download each file and move it into the new dropbox? Is there a way to copy folders rather than each file? It's been several months now that my files haven't been syncing.
- bb-black2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
how do I do that?
- bb-black2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
It says Dropbox (3-6-24 2/31 PM)

It seems to be syncing well but I've lost many files and folders from my dropbox on my laptop.

I don't see any syncing icons on your files in your screenshot bb-black
When you say it's syncing well, could you clarify if it's 'up to date' or still syncing in your menu bar?
