All my photos have disappeared, only empty albums left
Hi,
all my photos have suddenly disappeared, only the albums (folders) are remain. How is this possible and can I get the pictures back somehow? I haven't been using my Dropbox for a long time but I have been logged in all the time. Also, I can still log in so the account hasn't been deleted.

How long has it been since you last used the account? Also, you say you've been logged in all the time. How? Did you have the Dropbox application installed and running on your computer? Does your Events page show any activity for your account?
If you didn't have the software signed in and running, and you haven't accessed the account through the website in more than a year, the account might have been deleted due to inactivity. When this happens and you try to sign back in at a later date, it recreates the account for you, so it could appear that you've sign in to your old account when actually it's a new account with no files.

It has probably been over a year since I last used the account. I have never had to log in when I've clicked the Dropbox icon on my lap top so I thought that I've been logged in all the time.
Does Dropbox not inform you at all before they delete the account? I haven't received any notification or "warning" email.
So now all the pictures are gone for good?

Hey Jane222, sorry to jump in here, but you haven't mentioned. Do you see any signs of your missing files in your events page?
This is the place where all uploads, edits, and deletions are normally logged so it should give you a clue or two.
If you don't see any file activity there, could it be that you're looking at the wrong account?
Also, note that if your account was deactivated due to inactivity, you would have received email notifications about it and you wouldn't be able to log in, but you'd be prompted to create a new account.

Hi Walter,
it says "You have no activity yet" on my Events page. I only have this one dropbox account.

When is the last time you remember seeing the files on the website Jane222?
Could it be that you were working on a local Dropbox folder that wasn't syncing normally?
