dropbox deleting files....
I was gungho about drop box as I loved the sync feature and even now keep my subscription $$current. I have been using it since before 2015 and now when I try to access files from 2021 and prior years they are no longer there!!!!! They were just deleted and I did not delete them!!!! They are no longer on the computer but they are not in drop box either. I stopped syncing files and started saving them on external drives to try to prevent the loss of files. So far it seems that I have not lost any files but I really don't need dropbox to save files in this manner and I can't afford to lose any more files. I am the only user on the account so why does Dropbox just randomly delete files???? How can I use it without it just randomly deleting files???? I

Dropbox doesn't, and can't, delete files on its own. If files are being deleted, either you or some other process on your computer is doing it. The only time Dropbox can delete your data is if your account is left idle for more than a year, at which point your entire account would be deleted.
Have you checked your Events page for evidence of the deletions? If the files were deleted within your recovery period (30 days on Basic accounts), restore one of the files and then look at its version history.
