Editing PDFs on Dropbox on Android corrupts the PDF

Device
TCL NxtPaper 14
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Android 14
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
454.2.2
Syncing Status
Up To Date

Question or Issue

I am using Dropbox on my TCL NxtPaper 14, along with the app Nutrient PDF Viewer Pro to edit and annotate PDFs on Dropbox. Whenever I use the app, it corrupts the PDF on Dropbox. Editing PDFs on other cloud services with the same app does not give me any issues.

Hey PastaShock - thanks for flagging this with us.

Can you please clarify if the files are giving you a particular error or if they just won't open after you've edited them?

Any additional information or even screenshots are more than welcome!

Every PDF Viewer/Editor I try tells me the file is corrupt, even the PDF viewer built into the Dropbox client on iOS and Android.

Every PDF Viewer/editor just tells me that the file is corrupted and can’t be opened. The PDF you were built into the dropbox client on android and an iOS is the same thing.

Hey PastaShock, let me jump in here!

I'd love to have a visual of what you described. Can you kindly send me a few step-by-step screenshots demonstrating the steps you follow in order to edit the file, and also the error you get when trying to open it? Just make sure no personal info is shown there.

Does this happen with all of your PDF files or just some of them?

I've only tried on two PDFs. Let me see what I can put together.

I've only tried it on 2 PDFs so far. But I am two for two.

Ok,so today I am getting something different. I edit the PDF and then exit out of PDF Veiwer Pro, and I get 2 files: the original file and another one with the same name but (XXXXX's conflicted copy) in the filename.

I may have figured this one out. When I exit PDF Viewer Pro, it doesn't look like it actually closes out of the PDF. So, when I open the PDF again, it opens it again in another tab. I think this is causing the issues I am having.

I sent a support request to the vendor. I'll let you know what they say.

It looks like if I bring up the task viewer in Android 14, I can see each opened PDF in its own window and can kill any open PDF. So, that may be a workaround until this gets fixed. The problem is remembering to do that. Cause if I don't, it will corrupt the PDF.
