File Deletion via VBA so that I can stop the relevant Dropbox prompt when deleting files.
Trying to program around an annoyance.
I am using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) with Microsoft Access to work with files, our team will generate reports and then put them in shared folders on Dropbox automatically for specific users to review. Once the user has processed the document, we can delete them
I notice that in File Explorer when we delete files from a shared Dropbox folder, it always asks if we want to delete it from everyone or just my computer. Is there a way when I do this via VBA to not have that message pop up as we will be working with hundreds of report files, many which will get deleted or replaced. Having to constantly click the message can make my users very annoyed.

Hey GaryH_BAR01, thanks for posting here today!
In order for me to have a visual, would you be able to send me a screenshot of the exact message you get? I want to check if you have the option to click "Don't show this again" or anything similar.
It'll also be helpful to know if you notice this behavior only when trying to delete content from shared folders, or with any folder. Please bear in mind that assisting with VBA itself is out of my scope, and I'm not familiar with how it works exactly. In any case, the thread is going to remain open, in order for other users to share their input, and knowledge with you.
In any case, I'll be happy to continue troubleshooting with you about the Dropbox prompt you're seeing. Thanks!

Megan The only concern that I have is that I would not want to disable the warning for if we do a manual delete since this is a great way to catch a mistake. It is just when we want to do things with automation.

The only way to disable that prompt is with the "Don't ask me this again" option you see in the message, but that will disable it entirely. There's no way to disable it only when you're using VBA to delete the files.

Is there a way to re-enable to prompt once we finish (even if it is a manual re-enable)

Open Dropbox Preferences and go to the Account tab. Hold the ALT key and you'll see some hidden options appear. Click the button that says Reset File System Warning options.

You can go to Dropbox Tray -> Account menu in the top right -> Preferences, then switch to the Accounts tab, hold Alt or Control (I forget which!), and that should make some buttons visible - one of which is "Reset File System Warning Options". That will reset all these warning dialogs. Unfortunately there's not currently a way to be more targeted about which ones get reset.
