File got reverted to a version from months ago
Hi there! I've been using Dropbox for over 10 years. One file I frequently use is part of my private finances. When I tried to access the file today, it seems to have reverted to a version from Oct ...

9 months agoUnfortunately if Events doesnt show that it was edited or changed then there have been no updates or changes/amendments to it that have sync'd to Dropbox for whatever reason. Its possible the software didn't connect, there was an error (e.g. the app was open while trying to sync, out of space or a conflict). However, if it doesn't show on there its not possible to recover (at all) via Dropbox.
Sorry :(
All I can suggest is looking on the device itself for any other local versions

Thanks for trying to help! It's really unfortunate the Dropbox system just seems to think the file was only created a few hours ago.
I had hoped the 30 File History Dropbox offers would be enough for me, as a kind of backup. I'll look into setting up a separate backup system to prevent unforeseen cloud sync issues (which I guess this classifies as?) deleting import data in the future.

I'd always recommend at least 2 or 3 different backup tools. And the 30 day recovery is usually enough - if it connects and works. However as its not connecting it can't work.
What I'd also say though is every system will be the same, if they arent connecting/working they wont sync and backup. So make sure you test them.
